The reflections from several monuments and memorials can be seen in this basin plus the trees that line the paths were in full foliage for fall. Very clean and safe.

The monuments around the basin are fantastic, so much to see. A lot of walking, but so worth it, If you love this country it is a must!!

We always enjoy walking the Tidal Basin. It's generally peaceful and quite beautiful. Bonus - It's between monuments and within a short distance of the national mall.

Although not indigenous to the region, these Japanese imports certainly are one of the main reasons to visit DC in the Springtime. If you are fortunate enough to see the blossoms at peak there are few flora that can compete. Some years the blossoms are incredibly huge and colorful and, when falling are literally like a snowstorm in April. The Tidal Basin is also at the center of many of DC's Mall attractions: Lincoln, Jefferson and Washington monuments to name a few.

The walk around the Tidal basin is gorgeous, offering views of almost all the big landmarks, whether or not cherry blossoms are in season. I will say that there was a storm the night before we walked it and the walkway right beside the basin was submerged in a number of places, so just be aware. Although there are upper sidewalks too, so it's not like it is impassable.

When in DC you must walk slowly about the basin. Though we were there in October this year, it is particularly beautiful when the cherry blossoms bloom in the Spring. The photographer can have a field day on any clear sunny day.

Starting at the Lincoln memorial you walk around the Tidal basin to see the Jefferson memorial and it is a 3 mile round trip with a lot to see both directions

We took an 8 hour tour which was great...saw a lot! The next day we had a private guide for 4 hours who walked us from our hotel to sights and helped us learn the metro. The rest of our trip we were on our own and did great. We are seniors.
