From dioramas of animals in Africa and North America, to the Oceans, to the formation of the earth and plate tectonics, to the development of early man, this Museum has tons to offer. We went twice, with our focus on the entire display of the Origins of Early Man, with complete facial reconstructions of about ten of our early ancestors. This was awesome to see in person after reading and seeing it in many books. Also, there is a fantastic display of gems and semi-precious stones and their formation, including the Hope Diamond. Not to be missed! Two hours is a good start, but we went twice and spent at least 2 hours each time.

You really wonder how much time you need to explore this amazing museum. Truly worth a visit. And worth spending long hours.

Small for the setting but high quality exhibits and with many environmentally conscious statements that speak well for our species in spite of the current administration.

We toured the museum and even watched the "spider feeding" which was instructive. The museum has a huge collection of mammals, whether American or from other continents. The polar and African sections are spectacular.

The temporary exhibit about nature photos was simply stunning. The winners deserve their awards.

The sea monsters exhibit was also very instructive as was the dinosaurs section.

This museums covers a lot of topics and is well done for either grown-ups or kids.

If you are into museums and have not been to NYC you must go see the exhibits. My favorite part is the diseases.

This is our favorite smithsonian. Both kids and grownups will love it. The whale is the coolest. Parking stinks. Go early.

We had a great time with the kids here. Get there early...it gets crowded fast! It also helps to plan which part of the museum you would like to visit so that you get to see it before it gets crowded. We loved the Human Origins section.

I actually prefer this natural history museum to the one in NYC. It is less formal and the exhibits are much more child friendly.
