Fun way to get kids out of the heat. Enough hands on activities and displays to appeal to any cranky child.

Wow, there is so much to see here! Just walking through and taking pictures took us two days to see all the rooms. I highly recommend seeing the massive dinosaur bones, perusing the mineral and gems room to see the Hope Diamond and other notable jewelry as well as the sparkly rocks and minerals that they started out as. Also, there is a live butterfly exhibit that I really enjoyed. We got free "first-come, first-serve" timed tickets on Tuesday (I think, make sure you check), otherwise I believe the price was $6 per person. It's worth getting to the museum early for the tickets. The cafe at the museum was pretty good for a quick lunch. There is a pretty big selection of sandwiches, salads and entrees.

The Museum of Natural History is one of my favorites, but there is so much to see and learn that it can be overwhelming - especially for young children. My suggestion is to go to the information desk and ask for a guide. Made a decision as to where you will start before heading into the rooms. That way you will definitely see what you want before weariness sets in.

Seeing the Hope Diamond and the other gems was the highlight of the regular collection. The nature photography exihibit was probably the best overall at our visit. Everything else was things we've seen before and when you visit zoos and nature often enough to see the animals live, it's a bit sad and unreal to see the stuffed versions.

Fantastic exhibits--dinosaurs, ocean creatures, mammals, mummies, forensics, gems and more! We loved it--I've been three or four times now and would go again. Skip the museum cafe though--way overpriced.
