“Always interesting”
Reviewed November 9, 2011

I have visited the museum many times. It is fun and exciting for kids, and also fresh and interesting for adults. The Hall of Mammals, for instance, puts you in the middle of the mammals instead of outside, looking at dioramas. The stone head from Easter Island is one of many manmade treasures in addition to those from the natural world.

“very disappointed”
Reviewed November 8, 2011

The animals look like they are waiting to be picked up from a taxidermist. Just awful. After seeing the Museum of Natural History in NYC I had high expectations. Of all the national museums, this was the most disappointing. The gem room was so unbelievably hot and crowded that you just had to get out as quickly as possible. Just not what I expected at all.

“Great Museum for kids”
Reviewed November 6, 2011

As with all the museums, plan ahead, especially this one. There is so much to see, you really need to give yourself at least 4+ hours to not rush thorugh things, especially if you have kids with you. There really wasn't an area that my daughter didn't enjoy. We went from wow to wow, with each room we went to.

“Must see and free”
Reviewed November 4, 2011

Very busy and popular but not too congested. I especially enjoyed the rocks and minerals exhibit, the earthquake worldwide data and the Mexican miner's who were rescued display.
