Owner description: Emotionally stirring memorial pays tribute to the men and women who served in one of America's most controversial wars.

A visit to the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, DC is a touching experience. It rises out of the ground and the sheer number of names is overwhelming. As someone who grew up in the midst of news of that era, my memories flooded back. It’s worth the visit to this beautiful monument on the Mall.

A small tribute to those who served the cause of liberty in south East Asia.

If your in DC, you need to see these memorials.

I told my son who will be a senior that kids like him were told to go to Vietnam to fight for the country. This really makes us realize how great freedom is and the sacrifice it takes.

We visited with a tour guide. The wall is massive. It was a very emotional experience. Our tour guide gave us a lot of information about the specifics of the design and the number of soldiers who died. It is so hard to believe how many were lost during the war.

This is a moving and thought provoking monument to the folly of war. I am not aware of relatives who fought or died in Vietnam but I did find a number of people with whom I share a family name.
