“Love the story behind its design and construction”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2013

The memorial was designed by a Chinese American. Unlike the traditional war memorials, this one has a concept of an opening wound in the earth to symbolize the gravity of the loss of the soldiers. I understand that some tourists have difficulty finding it as it isn't built on ground level. Like the idea of highly reflective wall. When a visitor looks upon it, his or her reflection can be seen with the engraved names, bringing the past and present together.

“A crowded holiday weekend”

With four kids in tow-- it is hard to keep them corralled and quiet-- but even my four became reverent as we passed through the memorial.

I visited the wall at night. Very emotional what this wall represents. Do not miss this Memorial on your visit to DC.

“The wall”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2013

Even the teens in the group I was with were touched by the shear number of names inscribed on this elegant memorial. Seeing the names and knowing each one died in this long war brought home a reality that many of the other memorials don't.

We could have used more time here but I know we will be back.

This memorial is within easy walking distance to the Korean War and Lincoln Memorials so leave yourself plenty of time for all.

“Very moving”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2013

58,195 names on this hallowed stone wall. No mater when you visit this memorial, what time of year or what time of day the wall is moving. You can't help but to be moved when you see family or friends copying engraved names on the wall or see fallen members dog tags with a flag at the base.
