Great memorial, with all the names of the Vietnam Vets etched in marble. You'll find a lot vet's around the memorial, looking for names of comrades and also laying wreathes near the memorial. Well worth the look.

“Moving....”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

This memorial was one of the toughest to visit. It's a wonderful tribute to those we lost in Vietnam, but so sad to see all that we lost.

The Memorial is so touching and a must when visiting the DC area. My cousin died in Vietnam and I visit the Memorial as often as I can to see his name.

“Veteran's Day Tribute”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

The Vietnam Memorial is always a strong sobering reminder of all the lives lost in Vietnam. My husband was a volunteer who helped with the 'Reading of the Names' on the memorial. The names just went on and on, it was very sad. Sometimes the readers would preface a name with Dad or Brother. The reading lasted for 3.5 days, ending on 11/12/12 @ 24:00.

We were at the memorial in the night and day. The view at night looking out from the memorial included the Washington Monument and the Capitol. During the day, the brightly colored fall leaves on the trees helped make the clearly visible mementos a little less devestating. The volunteers and park guards were very helpful and provided us with paper and pencil to make a rubbing. The other statues, of the soldiers and nurses were also very sad. The sadest part was a plaque recognizing those who died from their physical or spiritual wounds. I'm glad it was there but it was much too small and simple to adequately recognize the vast number of men and women who died as a result of their experience in Nam.

“Impactful view of sacrifice”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

The monument is impactful and representative of its significance. It was smaller enough to not be overwhelming, but striking. There were tons of people visiting and checking out the monument as it was the weekend of Veteran's Day.
