Owner description: Emotionally stirring memorial pays tribute to the men and women who served in one of America's most controversial wars.
Reviewed October 23, 2012

A poignant memorial to those lost in Nam. You will walk only slowly and silently along the wall taking in some of the names.

This was my 3rd visit to the Vietnam Memorial. What hits me most is not the memorial itself. What hits me are the people/families leaving tokens or shading names.

When you see this memorial, you just can't understand why these men and women were treated with such little respect during the war. You may not like what the war stood for, but these people deserve the respect of the nation.

Like all the others, it is a powerful reminder of those that have served the country. Best to see this memorial during the day, rather than a night tour.

We were on a walking tour with Tim Stewart, of Walk of the Town, and were so well prepared to appreciate the art form as well as the thought that went into the displaying of the names of the deceased. This knowledge made the impact of the memorial so significant. It is best to see it in the day so you can see yourself reflected as you read the names of these souls. We went back at night as well and found ourselves explaining to other tourists the intentions of the way the names are arranged and the importance of every aspect of the memorial. It is far more meaningful if you understand the nuances of the tribute.
