It looks like you are back in the old times where train are the must on travel and communication, even for the presidents traveling to DC to get ready for they term The ceilings, the floor the restaurant and shops are all special. It is a must for everybody that loves architecture and history.

“Union Station is being renovated but it's still great.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2012

We arrived on an Old Town Trolley and visited the main foyer and the restaurant area on the lower level. The lower level had a great deal of variety and the lunch we had (Cajun) was very good. The guy on duty at the Old Town Trolley stop in front of the Union Station was very helpful and gave us some tips regarding using the Trolley service. A surprising place overall in a positive sense.

“More than a hub for transportation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2012

Plan to spend some quality time in the station. There is a place to check luggage for a fee. There is so much to see and do, Shopping and eating high brow and low. Interesting arcitecture. The people who work there are very friendly. There is some construction going on outside but you can easily get a cab and the tour buses also stop there. You can buy a ticket for the trolley and the hop on hop off bus in the station. I scheduled to eat at the station upon arrival so as to recharge before going on to vacation. I shopped so much in the station on the way home when the train came I wasn't sure I could manage all my stuff. so take a shopping tote extra. don't be afraid to ask for help they don't want you to get hurt. ask where the elevators are. travel with no more than a carryon and a tote. if you can't lift it ask conductor to store it. wi fi connected take your toys. there are places to just sit and people watch which is very interesting do to the international nature of the venue. take a peek behind the shields of the statues.

“Union Square”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2012

The Union Square is where the majority of tours start; it also has public restrooms, restaurants, and shopping centers. The building was beautiful though it was under construction while I was there.

“Easy to navigate”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2012

I went to Union Station multiple times during a recent trip to DC and find it very easy to navigate. Most of the food services are in the basement with the front end of the first and second floors are a retail court--easy way to tell that one is at the west end on the first floor is the Barnes and Noble and the Metro is right beneath the Barnes and Noble. Trains board toward the back of the first floor and the bus station is now on the mezzanine of the parking garage.
