Owner description: Though the Library of Congress doesn't own every book ever published, it sure has most of them, with 532 miles of shelves and 115 million items, with 7,000 added each working day.

Sadly didn't see too much here, but the building is very impressive, and the architecture is beautiful. The decor inside is wonderful!
Worth a visit!

Excellent the way we saw it .... but if you can figure a way to get into the reading rooms (maybe someone studying in DC that you know) might be even better

So glad we went. Fantastic architecture. Great photo op. Such a sense of history and pride. Be sure to see the reading room. The outside fountain is gorgeous as well.

The Library of Congress has a tour guide that was terrible!! We finally just left the guide and went on our own. His voice was too quiet and he's probably still standing there whispering about the plumbing fixtures. Painful!

I'm not sure many visitors know this building is even open to the public - and what a shame. This is a must visit. So much history to the building. Thomas Jefferson's book collection, the Gutenberg Bible and the Waldseemüller map alone are worth the visit. But there is so much more to see. No lines to get in and if you've already gone through the Capital Building tour, it's a short walk underground to get the library without having to have another security check.
