“beautiful building-try to take the tour”

We were lucky enough to enter through the tunnel between the Capitol in time for the free tour. The building is beautiful and the tour very enjoyable.

“Fantastic building”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2012

It's a building you really must see from the inside. It is different from most of the buildings you see in the states - the decorations are more European - but the frescos and the stained glass roof is wonderful. The exhibition about the constitution and the Jefferson Library is very interesting.

“A Building Worthy of Thomas Jefferson!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2012

The Thomas Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress, completed in the Italian Renaissance style in 1897, occupies a strategic space on Capital Hill, to the southeast of the US Capitol. While the exterior of this huge building is striking, the interior is widely acclaimed as one of the beautiful interior spaces created in 19th century America.

Other TripAdvisor reviewers have already covered many aspects of the Jefferson Building's incredible interior spaces, its collections and its interesting displays. Many of the non-public spaces are also very beautiful, as I can attest when I was given a private tour of the Jefferson Building in 2008.

When you visit Washington, DC, plan to spend a few hours in the Library of Congress, one of the nation's top cultural, literary and architectural gems!

“education”

this is broken down into two buildings, the Jefferson has 3 exhibition halls and the actual Library of Congress you will need a tour. it's not for everything i feel kids would like like a tour of a library.
