Had the delightful experience of an after hours event and we were honored to meet the Archives Chief Curator/Archivist. Funny story they told about him. Apparently when he was a kid he wrote to then President Kennedy and said when he grew up he wanted to be the Archivist there. He apparently has that letter hanging in his office. Not sure how the letter made its way there, but cool story. And he wrote same letter to President Eisenhower and Johnson "to cover his bets." With a stellar career before this post, he ended up there!
Fascinating place where you really can get up close to the original documents. So much history in one place!
Enjoy!
