What can you really say? A nice monument with a cool statue with four quotes on four walls and one grand one around the rotunda. If you're walking around the Tidal Basin you'll definitely run into it, and you should go out of your way to see it if you like classical architecture. Too bad we went when we did though, because the walkways around the Tidal Basin were pretty treacherous from the piles of ice and snow still sitting from the recent winter storm.

“Husband's Favorite”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2014

This was my husbands favorite Memorial! Mostly because Thomas Jefferson was so extremely smart! It was impressive to read the time line of his life. He never stopped learning or trying to make the world a better place. The statue is beautiful, the words etched in stone, and the copies of two of his books really make you wish you had met him.

“Peaceful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2014

The Jefferson memorial was much quieter than the memorials directly on the national mall. It's a short walk to get here, but well worth it. (walk through the FDR memorial to get here from the Lincoln Memorial). The setting is peaceful as it sits on the tidal basin. While walking towards the memorial, you can see through the columns to view the Jefferson statue. Entering the memorial, you see the statue along with a history of Jefferson's writing and philosophies. It was a great reminder of what a tremendous person he was and the impact he had on the founding of the United States.

This was less crowded as compared to other memorials. But this place is scenic and has beautiful surroundings. The towering pillars and the view of the quiet waters makes it a serene place to wander in ones thoughts.
