Owner description: A 19-foot bronze statue of perhaps the most esteemed founding father sits beneath a columned rotunda in the style of the Roman Pantheon.

It is quiet and apart from the rest of the monuments. A great place to reflect and meditate on our democracy. Although it is open to the air, it is cool inside, even in the hot, humid Washington summers.

The Jefferson really shows well at night, and you can look back toward the Washington monument. In the late afternoon, sit on the steps and enjoy the tidal basin. Just read the walls to be reminded that the founding fathers were people of faith. This is easily walkable from Lincoln or the mall.

Because of its location, the Jefferson Memorial isn't quite as overrun as some of the other Memorials, but I think that adds to its appeal. Very moving tribute to our 3rd President and his ideals. Well worth the walk.

This monument, less than 100 years old, is dedicated to one of the founders of the principles of the USA. His words on the the freedom of religion especially resound. The monument is really in need of some repairs .... it is leaking profusely and that cannot be good in a city that gets hard freezes in the winter. It is REALLY out of the way if walking around the Mall, but definitely worth the detour. It NEVER has the crowds of the Lincoln Memorial.

Beautiful view of the tidal pool and the status of TJ is powerful. Went during the Cherry Blossom festival and thought there were a lot of people around...never felt crowded in the memorial. Recommend going earlier in the day.
