“Fall garden tour of the White House”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 8, 2013

My family was lucky to get the tickets for the garden tour through my child's University and not through our congressman. As many of you know, America's house is quite modest in size. The tour we took did not include the interior, just the gardens and surroundings of the White House. It was not very long (about an hour) and not very exciting. However, if you have a chance to visit, you should. The tour was crowded with visitors. Mrs. Obama's vegetable garden and her children's swing set were among highlights. T

“Probably better with a tour”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 8, 2013

It looked great from far away, but I wasn't able to get a tour. I had no idea you had to ask well over 6 months ahead of time to get a tour.

“not great”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2013

unless you can arrange for some sort of private or behind the scenes tour, this is not that great. i mean, i can say i've been there, but beyond that, don't feel i got to see much. also, the visitor guidelines were emphatic about no photos, no cell phones, etc. so being a good citizen i didn't take mine w/ me. but at the end of the tour in front of the white house, outside, people were allowed to take photos.

Smaller than I thought it would be and Secret service police shined spotlight in my face for taking Pictures. Honestly not impressed.

“touring”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2013

it takes about 2 months to get your tour tickets from your Senator or Congressman, so plan accordingly. It's MUCH better to go on the formal tour instead of the self paced tour because more things are explained and make more sense. At least age 5 and up
