“Great Puerto Rican Restaurant in DC”
Reviewed July 7, 2012 via mobile

Wow I am from PR and had lived in Michigan for 26 years and I found this restaurant to be delicious, very friendly and the owner is fantastic (Giovanna Heikel). She is well known in the Latin community. She is pretty much involved in the kitchen and very eager to meet you and make sure that you like the her food.Came here with my daughter who doesn't eat steak much but she ordered the Bife de chorizo with amarillos and mamposteao. I ordered the ripe plantain with meat called the pastelon and it was very delicious. Now for the dessert we ordered the passion fruit cheesecake with a chocolate bottom and it was sinfully fantastic. I had eaten at many puertorican cuisine restaurants in the states and this one tops it. Come here if you have the opportunity to come to DC.

“Loud and sloppy”
Reviewed June 26, 2012

Went for a work lunch with three others. It was a beautiful day, so we opted to eat outside. I thought it would be quieter (the inside dining can get loud). Bad call. If it was just the street noise, it would have been ok....but they pipe over LOUD music. Just so annoying. Took forever to get butter for bread then forever to get your meal. The ceasar salad had chunks of brown lettuce. The wiatress forgot an order of fries. Not impressed at all.

“A good place for cocktails after work.”
Reviewed May 31, 2012

I have been to Mio with co-workers on several occasions for cocktails after work. Each visit has been very nice. The place is quiet. It has drink specials and great appetizers and is reasonably priced. I have not had dinner there but would certainly consider it given the delicious appetizers. The wait staff seems very knowledgeable about the wines that the restaurant offers. It is in a good location on Vermont Avenue just off K Street. Definitely worth a try.

“Great Latin American food”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

I don't know a lot about authentic central and south american food, but I really enjoyed everything at Mio. There were lots of unfamiliar taste combinations that worked well, and tasty cocktails.

“Cozy place for Happy Hour”
Reviewed May 19, 2012

Nice place. Attentive staff.
Near to White House, Dept of VA, metro stops, etc.

Latin themed cuisine.
* note: some of the food is kinda greesy.
- wasn't really expecting an empenada too shoot out a tablespoon of grease and ruin my tie.

Otherwise, I would recommend and go back.
