Owner description: Find out for yourself why everyone is calling the Newseum the best experience Washington, D.C. has to offer. Each of the seven levels in this magnificent building is packed with interactive exhibits that explore free expression and the five freedoms of the First Amendment: religion, speech, press, assembly and petition. Whether you have just a few hours or want to spend all day, you'll find something for everyone in the family in the Newseum's 15 theaters and 15 galleries.

Before you even enter the building the front pages of newspapers from all over the US line the front to the building each day capturing your attention. This is one of the museums charging a fee on DC. They do give discounts for AAA and AARP. Also our tickets were good for two days not just one but it may have been because we went later in the day. I would recommend at least half a day. The self-guided tour starts at the ground level with a short video, section of the Berlin wall then an elevator ride to the top floor. It’s a glass elevator and as you work your way down the levels back to the main floor there are several great views of DC from outside and indoors. During our visit we found the JFK exhibit as well as the Sept. 11th exhibit to be the most captivating. We also enjoyed the section where they store many old newspapers you can slide out of a case and read. The Sept 11th section was extremely difficult for us as adults and others we saw. We loved the views as well as the set up and what this museum had to offer.

A cool museum with a vast collection of all things news media. Our group included a 17 and a 73 year old, and both liked the experience.

This place is FASCINATING. Make sure you dedicate a relaxed afternoon to wandering around. There is also a great view on the balcony of the capitol building. They do weddings there too!

This was a real gem to visit. The displays were informative and spot on. It was an excellent way to spend the day! The exhibits of events were accurately depicted, and with respect. It is most definitely a WDC five star attraction!
