I'm a retired journalism teacher, so I am a geek for this stuff, so realize that in the review. I wish I could have lived close enough or had taken kids to a conference here to see the museum. Lots of interactive displays and opportunity to make your own news videos. Great review of American history through the coverage of the news of the day. Excellent display for high school kids to see the many recent freedom of expression cases. Interesting, but probably not surprising, they really downplay the current media attacks from the administration. Just a great time. My wife was fascinated also; not just the news geek.

I had put aside 2/3 hours for the visit but ended up staying there for 4! All the exhibitions were very interesting and captivating. I really recommend a visit!

My husband and I are kind of news junkies but anyone will love this museum. It is not a free Smithsonian but well worth the small fee to get in. The museum tells the story of all types of journalists through the years- newspapers, radio, TV, with lots of nteresting video snippets And the photographs are amazing!

Don’t be put off by the admission charge (few museums in DC charge admission, this one is worth the twenty five dollars). We spent an afternoon and the following morning here as there was so much to see. It covers news throughout the 20th century, including the fall of the Berlin Wall and the civil rights struggle. The display of Pulitzer Prize winning photographs is astounding. The display will make you smile and make you weep.

At a time when the press is being smeared as “the enemy of the people” it is important to visit this museum which chronicles the importance of a free press to our democracy and way of life. There is much to see as the museum reviews the rise of print media as mass media, through radio and TV news to today’s delivery of the news in various forms through the Internet. The media industry is struggling to define a viable economic model given fake news and the disintermediation of distribution through blogs and free online access and the museum is stronger in examining its historical role and development than in assessing the current media landscape. Still, this is a fascinating and valuable look at how the press is a watchdog and defender of our democratic institutions and way of life.

If you are a news buff this is definitely worth your time. Every event has been chronicled and there is so much to take in you should give it a lot of time to get through it.

Wow what an incredible and interactive fun museum. We had so much fun spending our afternoon here! It was amusing encountering some rare stuff like the news archive, the FBI gallery or the 9/11 gallery which was very touching. But best of all is the photography of the year gallery.

Very informative and entertaining with many interactive exhibits. Spent six to seven hours over two days and still didn't cover it all. Good cafeteria.
