“fascinating museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2012

Newseum is a new private museum in DC. My wife and I paid a visit in early October 2012 when visiting Washington DC. It's not cheap (about $22/adult), however we got a huge discount because my wife is a teacher. The museum is great: lots of interesting exhibits about the history of mass media, interactive media, etc. I would highly recommend it.

“Way more than you imagine”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2012

There was so much more here to see than I would have suspected. I saved it for when we had out of town guests and I was floored. The Unibomber exhibit alone is worth the visit. It is expensive so spend the day. The watergate exhibit also was terrific.

“Very interesting museum, good 9/11 exhibit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2012

I found the 9/11 exhibition particularly interesting, especially the piece of twisted wreckage they had on display. All very moving.

I found the Pulitzer Prize photos from over the years fascinating.

Unfortunately I got there two hours before it closed so I didn't get to see it all.

The only downside was the price which is why I've only given it a 4.

“Informative and fun”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2012

Visited the newseum this weekend...and first thought was "almost 22 dollars to visit?"....but it is well worth it! You can use your ticket 2 days and there is 2 days worth of viewing....Take the 1 hour tour first ...it is helpful to become oriented....the Pulitzer Prize photos are incredible....and the background stories will bring tears to your eyes. Enjoyed the films too...and it is a good place to have lunch...reasonable and fresh food....Worth checking out the view of DC from the top...

“Fantastic for many ages, a few special tips”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2012

This is a remarkable place if you are interested in a place for kids and adults that let's do DO things, not just read or listen.
Hint - be SURE to see the orientation and absolutely 100% be SURE to see the 3D movie. The 3D movie is a little difficult to find but be sure to ask if you can't quickly find it. Don't JUST do the "top 10 things" on the list they give you, because, for example, you'd miss the brief movie about news coverage of 9-11. The Berlin wall pieces are powerful - be sure to check out both sides of this huge slabs (see attached pictures). Kids will really enjoy the opportunity to see what they would look like as a tv news broadcaster. And there is a "wii-like" game in the social media exhibition area that kids and adults will love.
One of the things I really like about this place is that they honor 5 freedoms and the role journalists play but they also acknowledge that journalists MAKE MISTAKES (see panels in bathrooms, which are worth visiting. (Don't mean to be wierd but the bathroom panels with mistakes are fun...like the one from a major paper in Minnesota: Deer kills 130,000

Also, you not can get in for 2 days, for a single price. This IS worth considering because there is so much here.

This place is not cheap but strongly recommended.
