Owner description: Find out for yourself why everyone is calling the Newseum the best experience Washington, D.C. has to offer. Each of the seven levels in this magnificent building is packed with interactive exhibits that explore free expression and the five freedoms of the First Amendment: religion, speech, press, assembly and petition. Whether you have just a few hours or want to spend all day, you'll find something for everyone in the family in the Newseum's 15 theaters and 15 galleries.
Useful Information: Activities for older children

This is a lovely venue for corporate events. It is also one of the most interesting interactive museums I have seen.
9/11 has a front row centre spot in a tasteful respectful presentation.
HIstory timelines, photos etc...really spend a week here not an hour.

A real surprise which reminds us of the importance of one of the key fundamentals of democracy - freedom of speech and a free press. We ended up spending more than 5 hours there and only left because we were running out of time to get somewhere else. It is a fantastic resource for school children (of which there were a few when we there), but also many points of interest for adults including the FBI exhibit, the various film pieces in the large and small theatres, the Berlin Wall, the Pultizer Prize winning photographs, the 9/11 exhibition - which is just heartreaking - the view of the Capitol Building from the 6th floor terrace and so many other highlights.

Oh - and the lunch was great in the cafe also. Lots of choice and well organised.

Don't miss it.

As a journalist we held a student event at the Newseum and I must say I was impressed. I really enjoyed seeing the exhibits with young journalist and even learned some cool stuff. This exhibits celebrates the important role played by the media in our county. If your in DC add this to the list, its a great way to spend an afternoon, One my favorite things to do in DC.

For those who want to eat there's a snack bar with good food at inline prices.

We heard about the Newseum from a friend. We were not disappointed. Spent several hour here and would have gone back the next day if we could have fit it in. You won't be disappointed, though there is an admission fee, which is a jolt after going to all the
Smithsonian's which charge -0-.

I enjoyed this place, however I'd probably go another time when it wasn't so crowded. There seem a number of rotating exhibits that were very good.
