We went there twice once for 3 days at the resort and second time for day-use, both times we enjoyed so much with everything especially the water park which is wonderful also the kids enjoyed the outdoor games.
just waiting for the schools to be over to come again many times this summer.

Great skiing. Staff is very professional and friendly. The lodge is a welcome break from the slopes. There is a full restaurant and bar on the second floor--There is a glass hut right at the foothills that serves drinks and food.

We returned here for our 10year wedding anniversary and the renovations they have done were awesome. Love the outdoor restaurant and upgraded food and amenities. My 9year old joined us and also loved the slopes.

Massanuten Resort is so fun and relaxing. We enjoy snow tubing and the water park. We go there every year and this will be the first time staying in the winter months.

Well.. decided to take my wife here for the weekend to learn to ski- knowing the beginner slopes and all.
I have to say- I was expecting it to be crap and it WAS crap. They say they have a 40" base- but its more like 20". Now this is not ALL the resort's fault- crappy weather this season, very little snow, and erratic weather. Nonetheless I expect the resort to use its snow making equipment to fill out the trails, and keep fresh snow on top of the ice pack.
If you want to ice skate- this is definitely the place for you- if you want to ski- look elsewhere. The did actually put some fresh snow out on Feb 12th.. and that lasted decent for most of the morning- but the resort was dead quite from Feb 10-12th. I mean.. no people.. and they STILL couldn't maintain the trails. When you are paying $50 per person for a lift ticket- you want to actually SEE some snow- man made or otherwise. Unbelievable.
We did do tubing on Monday the 12th- and they had only sold 5 tickets for the session (at least that was only $24 per person) and the slopes there- despite the weather- were better maintained than the ski slopes.
Now all that being said- all staff there were pleasant, nice and helpful- honestly- everyone was cool. Its just DANG- its just not a good place to ski- and if that is what you came for.. well.. you just wasted your money.
One thing we did find was the club (another building down the hill) where for $8 per person, you have access to nice indoor and outdoor hot tubs, a pool, raquetball, basketball, pool and video games. We didn't do it.. but by far the cheapest thing to do as a family there.
When the resort is this slow- I would expect conditions to actually be better- but skiing on ice is just no fun- and skiing on a trail that is only 30' wide because they are too lazy or cheap to fill it up to it's 60' width- well.. is a true disappointment. It would be unbearable if it was busy and you had to wait in lines..

Again- hat's off to ALL staff there.. lift operators, bar staff, ski rental staff, ski safety folks, all professional, nice and kind, and efficient. This was honestly a shinning star.

Unfortunately- not only will I not come back here (unless there is a century blizzard and 5' of snow) but I cannot recommend it to anyone either. The price doesn't equate to any value.
I mean- how can the price of 1 4 hour session and 1 8 hour session for 2 people- be $7 dollars (only) than buy 2 full day lift tickets? and for that you get the worst ski experience ever.. unbelievable.
Clearly- they are making their money on tickets, eats and drinks and rentals.. and the resort is geared more towards those things- than providing a good ski experience.
