“Beautiful view nice road just needed a little sunshine”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2012

This scenic drive is certainly that and more, lots of wildlife the day we were there, small gatherings of deer, coupled with a lot of waterfalls in one relatively small area is a nice day spent. IF we'd seen the sun.....in fairness it was November and we certainly understood.....but sun would have really made it fantastic. If you are even passing through this area take a little time and detour, pretty sure you won't regret it.
The photo opportunities are plentiful and easily produce some great shots so don't miss this drive, adds a lot to the local experience.

“Wonderful afternoon walk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

The Historic Highway is an exceptional walking and biking trail in the Columbia River Gorge. The Mark Hatfield section beginning at Mosier, OR, is about 65 miles east of Portland. It provided quick and easy access to phenomenal views and circa 1910 highway tunnels drilled in basalt cliffs. There are slight grades but easily handled on foot and bikes. You have to see this. It was an amazing achievement.

The drive on the Scenic Highway is a perfect way to view the area. There are stopping points for taking pictures, and you can take a few exits along the way.

“An Essential Daytrip from Portland”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2012

Making this drive along the Columbia River is an essential day trip from Portland. (It's a bonus of the city that, in addition to a lively downtown, it affords easy access to a beautiful coastline, excellent wineries, the Columbia River and Mt. Hood.) In my opinion, the "must" stops along Highway 30 traveling east from Portland are Vista House and Multnomah Falls, but the smaller falls are also worth a look. Once you've made it all the way to Hood River, definitely make the trip up to the Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood. Stop at one of the many fruit stands or orchards along the way. Admire the craftsmanship of the Timberline and enjoy a drink at its Ramshead Bar while looking farther up the mountain at its snow-capped peak. This is nature at its best ... with a cocktail.

“Magnificent !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2012

We have spent a week in this area for the last 4 years and we always find some "new" falls to see. There are so many beautiful sights and so many ways to enjoy them. The area is absolutely gorgeous and can be experienced by those who are able to hike as well as those who might not be able to because of time or strength.
