Being from the Netherlands mountains are uncommon to me, this was a great experience with those little hikes, I enjoyed every minute of it!

“Great views!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2013

The views from the top were spectacular. We were there on a clear day and the visibility was great. The photo ops are everywhere. The suspension bridge was fun. The nature center was mare than we expected. We were expecting a few cages with a few animals but we were pleasantly surprised. It was much like some of the zoos with big paddocks for the animals. It was nicely done. The trails give you plenty of options for hiking. As some have said the entry fee is a little steep but it is worth it. Don't miss it if you are nearby!

“Grandfather Mountain”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2013

My boys are 7 and 9 and love to be outdoors. We are from Texas where everything is flat, and wasn't sure how the boys would handle small hikes in the mountains. We decided to try Grandfather mountain first. The price is a little steep to enter the park, but for the family photos we took, it was worth it to us. You can drive all the way to the top, but we stopped at the parking lot one stop prior to that. It was about a mile hike from there. Straight up a boulder strewn path. We loved it and the kids were hopping from rock to rock, people with mobility issues beware, it is not a paved path and there are no handrails for the steep areas. We have great pictures on the top of the mountain with blue skies and the Smokies in the back. On the way down we drove to the animal habitat and saw a few animals. Definitely worth the trip if its in the budget. You can avoid the park fees if you hike a significant portion, I'm just not up to that...

“Exciting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2013

A beautiful place for the lovers of the beauty of nature should visit this place, it has a zoo with various animals such as bears, Lions, deer, eagles and other animals more, then can be uploaded to the bridge from mountain to mountain really felt afraid at the beginning, but already then you relax and enjoy the charming landscape and beautiful nature. A tip try to go on a very sunny day so that they can enjoy the views because but pulled his money and not can see nothing because such is the height if you just have a little bit of fog won't be able to see anything, nor try to go in winter because they almost always cut the place by the dangers of snow and the heights , so choosing a good day and enjoy.
