We just took a scenic drive thru on the way to Valley of Fire Park and the Hoover Dam. At first I was upset that the GPS had decided to take us this way. It cost $ 10 to enter the park. But my disapointment was over very quickly when we decided to stop at Red Rock. It has bathrooms and a 30 min hiking trail that takes you around the towering red rock cliffs in the area. The rocks have little "apartments" in them where you can look for wildlife like horned lizards and pack rats. It is beautiful and easy hike. There are also many scenic photo areas where you can stop to take pictures along the way. Also your park entry pass is good for almost a week so be sure you hang on to it if you want to visit the area again.

We had a great time renting a speed boat on Lake Meade. Wonderful fun for the family and or friends to hang out and enjoy the amazing scenery. We rented from Las Vegas boat harbor. They were friendly and knowlegdable. Try to get there early because it is first come first serve.

If you come to Lake Mead, you have to rent a boat. My husband and I rented a small pontoon boat for a full day and loved it so much we went back for a 2nd day to rent the same type of boat. The water was beautiful and the views of the dam from the lake are pretty cool. Lots of shoreline to explore. Bring a cooler (no glass bottles) and some towels. You can "beach" the boat on a sandy beach and spend the day swimming around like we did. I would highly recommend renting from the people at the Las Vegas Marina. These guys run a first rate organization dealing with all kinds of people who want to rent a full range of boats/jet skis. They know how to work thru the crowd and make sure everyone gets what they want. THANK YOU to the STAFF for making our stay AMAZING!

Pass by Lake Mead on the way to Hover Dam. Not worth its own trp as there is not much to see. Toilets are dirty and in need of a clean!

On the road to Hoover Dam from Las Vegas, you'll be stopped in your tracks by the beauty of Lake Meade in Boulder City. The bluish-green water surrounded by desert and mountains is what "wonder" defines.
