This was our 4th year at the Niobrara River Ranch. A group of 21 of us took over the Oak and Ash cabins for another year of kayaking down the river. FYI - our group is aged in the 50-60 year old category.
Upon arrival we were a little stunned at how different things looked from the previous year. There was a big fire in the area last year (2012) and precautions were taken to prevent the NRR cabins from being taken by the fire. So... some trees were cut down. We understand the necessity - but were saddened to see the trees gone. The owner is planting new trees - so things will look better with each year.
We were pleasantly surprised at how clean the cabins were this year. Long-time friend and employee Twyla is back with Lee Simmons (owner) and is managing a good group of people who really care about keeping the cabins clean. Yahoo!
There was an issue with the loft air conditioner not working in the Oak cabin - and Twyla got right on it and had it replaced the morning after we arrived.
For our entire stay (4 nights) Twyla, Ricky and Gwen went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. They shuttles us to river sites, picked us up, brought us ice and just gave us the feeling they really cared. It was refreshing
This years service was the best we have ever had at NRR. Way to go Lee! Keep these people around!
There are some things that need to be finished on some of the cabins - but I feel that Lee has the right people in place to get those things done.
We have already booked a trip for 2014 - and will be staying at exactly the same place.
Thanks Lee for all the fun!
