we are from the senior group and love the springs. We go twice a week for an hour.
It is not fancy but a great place to meet friends and a place to relax.Come out and enjoy it.!
You might even make a new friend and get a new prospective on life. Kids love it. We take our
great grandchildren and they love it. Pat

“Relaxing and fun”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2012

We have been coming to Givens Hot Springs for years when visiting family. Our boys love being able to come swim in the warm soothing water, wishing every pool was like this one. This last trip they were able to enhance the skills they had learned in their swim lessons- the warm water made them more comfortable with their ability to swim.
While the building is old it is well maintained- the pool water is beautiful and clear, and the and bathrooms are kept clean. The large park gives the kids ample space to play, and the out of town atmosphere makes it easy to relax. Givens will always be on the top of our favorite spots to visit when in town.

Thank you! We're pleased you enjoy your time here. Our job, as we see it, is to provide an enjoyable, safe and rewarding experience for all our visitors, while preserving the authenticity of the Springs' 131 year history, a more laid back way of life, and access to the wonderful water and parks. You have caught a vision of the spirit of the place that brings multiple generations back to make memories with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We hope you'll do the same.

“Mis Givens hot springs”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2012

I read the reviews most saying it is bad I thought these people are expecting a fancy place. The tubs are in very poor condition. The water about 140 degrees, have a tap with cool water cool it down it turns real hot slow flow.

When you took a picture of the soaking tub, you forgot to include one of the newly painted room it's in. :) Granted, the concrete tubs themselves aren't pretty, but we sanitize them between uses so they're clean for your visit. We gave up a long time ago trying to keep paint or tile on them, as the hot water deteriorates both very rapidly. As for the water temperature, I believe you misunderstood what we said. The water does leave the spring at just under 140', but is considerably cooler by the time it reaches the poolhouse. It's still hot, however, so we recommend using the upper faucet, which is somewhat cooler - albeit slower - to do a lot of the filling.

“Total Dump”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2012

This property is in a serious state of disrepair. It is squalid and run-down in every sense of the word. A window fell out of the wall onto the floor in the men's room while I was using the facilities.

To date I have been to 98 hot springs, and I can count on one hand the number that fall into the category "just keep on driving". This is near the top of that short list.

“Givens Hot Springs a Nightmare for Campers”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2011

We were excited about pitching our tent at the Givens Hot Springs. The property has a large flat grassy area and we were told that we could pitch our tent in any area that we chose. As we started to put up the tent many cats (a good dozen) appeared immediately. Many appeared sickly and malnourished. Even though this was not a good sign, we decided to give the place a try anyway. Things got worse quickly. One of the cats urinated on our cooler, soon to be followed by a cat urinating on the tent. Also had a cat defecating in the fire pit. When I shared my concerns with the worker at the Hot Springs Resort (whom I assumed was the owner), he defensively asked, "What am I supposed to do?" At one point in the brief conversation he asked if I wanted to borrow a gun. (Maybe he was joking, but we thought his comment was totally inappropriate.) We asked for our money back and did receive it, but we definitely did not receive any type of an apology. I am going to guess that many years ago in its glory days, this resort was really nice. Not any more. Besides the cat issue, overall this resort is somewhat run down / worn out. Even if you are not a camper, I definitely would stay far away from this place.

We're sorry your experience here was less than you'd hoped for. As for the cat situation (all a product of drive-by drop-offs of people's unwanted felines,) the number has been reduced to one - just enough to keep cat-loving kids happy - and cat-loving adults, too, for that matter. We also have alpacas for people to enjoy.
As for my husband's response, you must have caught him on a bad day. Most people enjoy his sense of humor and interaction with them. By the way, you mentioned the grassy park in your review. Did you also happen to notice all the trees and how green the lawns are? These are the product of his extensive efforts to provide a beautiful park for you and others to enjoy, are not easily achieved in a desert setting, and are appreciated by most of our campers, who much prefer the setting to camping in the dirt somewhere.
As I've mentioned in another review, we are a constant work in progress - a privately owned and privately funded business. That means we have to budget. What doesn't get done in the fall is no doubt on our list for spring... or the following fall. We try to keep it affordable for all who come, and if the volume of customers is any indication, we succeed in that regard. But that also means that new projects (on a very old, historic facility) which are numerous, get taken care of in order of importance or urgency.
What is constant is the wonderful water that so many come to enjoy. Fed by a hot spring it is warm, clean, and naturally soft - very therapeutic and enjoyable, whether you're 1 or 91.
