A few people in our group were informed there had been complaints about our dancing “hard” in front of the stage/beach … we had a group of 40+ celebrating a beautiful day, being alive, and hearing great music… You bet we were dancing “hard”… two of our friends had recently fought off cancer, and we were reveling in the moments we still have left on this earth ! The irony is, when the rest of the crew heard what happened, most of us jumped to our feet and started dancing even harder.

It’s sad that grumpy narrow minded people, not having fun, feel the need to poo poo on other peoples fun, and the Lake Lanier Islands security staff are too short sighted to see the bigger picture. Why would you even invest in having a band to start with, if you did not want people dancing in front of them ?

So, my first time at the Lake Lanier Islands beach area pretty much nipped any ideas of EVER coming back, because of the staff running it, and the grumpy people attending.

Live like every day is your last … so don’t waste your time at Lake Lanier Islands

My husband and I took our 2 adult daughters and their boyfriends for the day. We paid the $10 to get into the park and started with the Stables. Our daughters had a Groupon and we got the military discount. Our easy, mostly shaded trail ride went on for 45 minutes, which was fun. This was super easy and good for all ages. Notes: the staff assumes everyone is novice. Be sure to wear pants, bug spray, sunscreen. Despite the slow pace of the ride and gentle demeanor of the horses, you will be wearing a helmet, Girls. And no open-toed or heeled shoes. If you forget, they will give you (nasty!) boots to borrow. The horses go in a certain order, and my family were separated by other riders, so in the future we will ask to be on horses together. Also, the bathroom is gross, so bring hand sanitizer to wash hands after riding.
We changed clothes and went over to Lanier World. I highly recommend parking in Green 3 parking lot by Harbor Landing (?), we were able to get spaces together to tailgate and walked right into the park (although it was crowded) without waiting in line at the ticket booth. We stopped at Publix that morning (there's several along Hwy 20) to pick up $5 coupons (one is adequate for your entire party), subs, water. We got the Senior (over 55!!) and military discount, plus the Publix $5 and essentially got the two of us in for the price of one. One frustration: they had run out of locked lockers to rent- there were several available, but with no keys to lock them. I am a physician and was on call and ended up having to leave my phone in the car because there was no secure place in the park to leave it (where it wouldn't get wet). The beach-front and wavepool-front lounge chairs were all taken by the time we arrived (about 1:00 pm), so we laid out beach towels on the grassy hill above the beach, which was fine. Apparently you can bring your own lounge chairs and even beach tents, if you want. We brought in water and dry snacks, and we spent much of the day riding water slides. For a larger group without cell phones, you have to remember to coordinate meeting times and locations, we spent a good part of the day looking for each other ;). All the slides were fun, the bands were good, the moderate crowd was fun and not rowdy or rude. We ate at Gianni's and had to sit inside (looked like there were not enough servers because there were plenty of tables outside), the antipasti was fine, the pasta was not done well. I believe this is more of a pizza place than Italian as it advertises. Large pizzas were approx. $20. There was no line at the bar, which was nice for our daughters who had previously waited at the tiki bar for 20-30 minutes. We lost our car keys on one of the rides (remember, cell phones and other valuables in the car!) and the staff was very helpful finding them after hours, calling us and bringing them to us in the parking lot.

We have camped at 20+ public campgrounds in Fl, Ga and SC in the past 12 mos. So far, Bald Ridge ranks #1. Every site is great with a view of the lake....even the pull thru's. it is booked solid every weekend. It is perfect for boaters and it has a nice, albeit small sandy beach. Perfect!

Had a blast stayed at the Villas (on the concierge program) The villas were excellent but the service was just okay (late maid service, horrible check-in experience) Love the island and all of it's features. We got the golf cart as a part of our concierge program and that was the best idea. I loved the beach and the fun events that had planned for the weekend. Do bring a towel and something to sit or lay on for the beach but it was crowded with boats fun and excitement. The food was great and the restaurants were super good. This is my third time going to Lake Lanier and each time we have a ball. The hotel pool at the lodge is wuiet and great cocktail service. The bar at the lodge is great too and the windows restauarant also great place for breakfast. Love the place will go on another holiday when looking for a Georgia staycation.

We spent the day here Sunday. They open at 10 so we got there right when they opened. We took both our boys one is 2 the other is 5. We set up at the kidde pool so the little ones could play there. Getting there early payed off because there was nobody there yet and we were able to get on all the rides with no wait. As the day went on it got a bit more crowded but not to bad. Still no real long waits. All in all it was a real good time.
