Owner description: Tent and RV camp sites, water and cooking facilities and a fishing pier make this a comfortable, fun place to excape to from Atlanta.

There is so much to do on Lake Lanier. Located in Georgia about 45 mins north of Atlanta, the lake is beautiful, large, clean, and surrounded by many private sandy islands for a perfect day excursion on your boat. If action is what you want, visit Sunset Cove where you can watch hundreds of boaters cooking out on their boats, swimming, entertaining. For a more quieter side of the cove, park your boat in the free slips at the 3 docks. Sunset Cove bar and grill offers up above average bar food and great drinks. $$$. Lake Lanier Islands at Sunset Cove offers a water park for the kids, zip lining, horse back riding, camping and fabulous golf. The lodging at Lanier Islands is your pick, rustic to luxury. The lake is very busy and at times resembles the ocean. Numerous campgrounds and RV parks on the lake. Old Federal has one of the best beaches on site 15. Perfect to beach your boat for day use. Bald Ridge Campground is below level, dock is on land, no good spot to park your boat. Shady Grove has one good beach spot for parking your boat around #78. All in all, Old Federal's beach is the nicest and off a main channel.

The improvements made to Lake Lanier Islands Resort are just amazing. It is no longer state run but privately run and the difference is remarkable. The golf course is just gorgeous. There is so much to do there. They have the water park and beach, Sunset Cove, the Legacy hotel is excellent and the spa is what the doctor ordered! It is close to ATL and yet you know you have gotten out of the city when you get there. It's a great summer get-away...Love it! It is a 'breath of fresh air!' :D

My family decided to go see the huge Christmas light display at Lake Lanier this year. We rented the golf cart to really get into the spirit. The lights were incrediable. So many displays my four year old daughter was all smiles and sung Christmas songs all the way through. At the end of the tour, there is a festival you can visit. They have rides for kids, food, Santa and shopping. Really is festive. We are going to make plans to attend next year.

They have over 7 miles of Christmas lights through out the resort. Very nice displays and a great Christmas Village at the end. 45 of us came down from Nashville, TN. we saw the lights at Callaway Gardens, Stone MT and Lake Lanier. This was the best of the three.
