The drive to the mountain was very exciting, lots of turns and curves and steep grade. Once there the views are amazing. You can picnic at the parking lot area in the field. Then we took the shuttle for $3 adult to the top or you can hike 6/10 mile to the top. The views are so beautiful. I think going in the fall to see the leaves would be amazing! The gift shop was very nice and had cute items. Well worth the drive.

“Incredible views; well worth the trip”

Truly majestic views of mountains in several states. Definitely do the climb from the parking lot, just take your time. Wish I lived closer!

“A Must See In Georgia”
Reviewed July 31, 2005

Brasstown Bald is the highest point in Georgia and has a uniquely different climate from the rest of the state, as well as vegetation. It is located off state route 180, and the entrance is well marked. The three mile drive up to the large parking lot is not recommended for RVs or trailers but is an easy trip for cars and light trucks. The U.S. Forest Service charges $3 per vehicle, and from the parking lot, you can either walk up to the summit or ride a shuttle van for $2 per person. The walk up to the summit takes about 30 minutes and is moderately strenuous but not recommended for the elderly or small children. In addition to the spectacular view, there is a museum at the summit and an observation deck.
