“Best spot of catch an Atlas launch.”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

We drove here to view the Atlas V/ MUOS-2 launch on July 19th. The beach is pretty wide, enough to hold the launch spectators. Our location was about 4.8 miles north of Launch Complex 41; the Atlas was easy to see. Off to the right was Launch Complex 39, Pads A and B. You will get a great view of those from parking lot one. The site is getting to be popular with launch watchers due to the proximity to SLC-41, but take note: the parking lots are small so arrive about an hour or more prior to lift-off.

“Nicest beach outside of OBX”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

Escaped twice from convention to the serenity of Playalinda. A beach that is unspoiled and a place where you can get away from it all. Even when it is crowded, you still can find your piece of paradise. Word of warning, the beach north of Parking lots 12 and 13 are unofficially clothing optional

“Playalinda Beach-- Best Beach in Florida!”
Reviewed July 12, 2013

Central Florida has more than it's share east coast tourist trap, crowded beaches, most notably Daytona and New Smyrna (also very unsafe due to the cars on the beach) and Cocoa Beach. However, if you want something opposite from those, then Playalinda is the beach for you. It is part of the Canaveral National Seashore, which means it is totally undeveloped. After you pay the $5 entrance fee, just like at any National Park, you will drive and see NO condos, NO hotels, NO fast food, NO t-shirt shops, NO nothing. Nothing except 13 paved parking lots (each with a flush, airplane style toilet!) along a road that runs along the sand dunes. (You can see the launching pads of Kennedy Space Center off to the right, though, which is pretty awesome.) Today, in the peak of summer, I parked in lot 8, and there was a total of 9 other vehicles. So we practically had the beach to ourselves. There is just nothing else like it here in Central Florida. Since there is no development you do need to bring everything in yourself, such as food, drinks, sunscreen, etc. It is a perfectly safe, family beach. I just want to add that when I read a lot of the other reviews, the focus always seems to be that "Playalinda is a nude beach!", but that is only true to a very small degree... one tiny fraction of the beach, which I have never been to, parking lot 13, (at the end of the road) is considered nude. If that floats your boat, then go for it, but I am perfectly happy at any of the other lots 1 through 12, and don't even give a thought about parking lot 13.

This beach is beautiful if you enjoy just swimming, relaxing in the sun, and appreciating the sights and sounds of nature. The ocean is gorgeous here, and there are no buildings to mar the view west. Even the parking areas are hidden behind large dunes. Very lovely!

“Playalinda Beach Lot 13”
Reviewed July 2, 2013

Very nice place, had to check it out after hearing all the rumors. Yes there is a nude beach here lot 13. Another thing I liked about this beach was the shells that we found there and the water seemed clearer for some reason. If you are in the area you should at least see it once. Great time wish it wasn't so gloomy outside or we would have stayed all day.
