“A good scenic highway”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

I've done the PCH probably 8 times in different stages. The most popular is San Francisco to L.A. It must be one of the most scenic highways in the United States but in summer it can be very slow as it's single lane on each side. In places it's all curves. If you are prone to motion sickness you could be in trouble as you are continually bearing left and right, slowing down and speeding up. When we went through May 15/16 the price of gas in L.A. was $3.95 but on the PCH around Big Sur it was $6.76. Make sure you fill up before you hit this section. It's really a great ride and it's the one way to visit the Hearst Castle and Seal Beach. Hope this was helpful.

“Beautiful ! A must !”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

San Fran to La...used Fox rental no complaints spend the extra and get a convertible, I didn't reserve one but upgraded when I got there...PCH......first stop Santa Cruz...great beach town only spent the day, then down to Monterey..stayed at the boutique hotel 1110 del monte, small but clean and innkeepers were very nice...beautiful rooftop deck and full breakfast served...no complaints and the price was great. next day down 17 mile drive ...its worth the 10$ toll...then Carmel..Big Sur...absolutly amazing...take your time pull over let people go by if going to fast, their pretty good about that. stopped in Pismo Beach about a 3 hour drive from monterey...stayed at the Best Western Plus very nice and restaurant was excellent ! high end. then down to Santa Barbara 2 days well worth it beautiful town, shopping and beach, we took 5 days to get to la...I suggest not rushing it...trip of a life time.

It was perfect weather! A miracle of Creation! It took us ALL day to do this trip, you want to stop and look all the time,. The scenery changes, the clouds come in, go out, sun shines, beautiful art gallery along the way. It is a MUST if you visit California!

“Do NOT miss this experience!”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

This Highway is unspoiled by commercialism. You need a day at least to do it. And it's not for the faint of heart. It is hairpin turns without guard rails, so it's not a quick run. BUT a highlight of the California trip!

“Views can't be matched”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

This was definitely the best drive in a car I have ever taken! We had done 17 mile drive prior to this and it paled in comparison. Skip that to do this! We drove from Carmel to Big Sur and it was breath-taking!!!!
