“Trail Closed”

I was here on September 10th, the trail down to the beach was closed due to heavy rain washing it out. Still beautiful views!

“Don't do it”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2011

This beach was difficult to find, the town was...well, lets say, interesting and the beach, when you walk down the path, the first sight you get is the drainage tile from the town. I drove for hours looking specifically for this beach and it was a huge disappointment. I'd suggestion not going out of your way for this one.

“Beautiful beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2008

The beach view from atop is breathtaking. There is a steep walk down, but it isn't too bad. Young kids may need to be carried. It is more of a pebbly beach, not sandy. If you are here to hunt for agates, be prepared to hunt. The beach is picked along so much that agates are really hard to find. Better luck trying a near surrounding beach, there are more! But it is still a great beach to visit and play.

“Best tidepool experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2008

I visited Agate beach (near Bolinas) with my husband and two young children. We had a difficult time finding the beach initially and were not thrilled with the town of Bolinas. The town was very small with some unusual characters.

Our main purpose was the search for tidepools, which were aplenty. We went at the perfect time, during a negative low tide and we had over two hours of enjoyment. This was the best tide pooling experience we ever had and the kids enjoyed it. The sea creatures were plentiful and we saw at least 10 starfish. What a wonderful place to visit, just be careful to not step on the wildlife.
