I just wanted to mention the beauty of Pena Blanca Lake. The surroundings allow the user to enjoy a mixture of S. AZ. landscape, with the addition of the small but ample 49 acre lake. Once you enter the canyon by way of 289, you soon are drawn in by the beautiful transition from desert scrub and cactus, to the colorful juniper and limestone bluffs. I reccomend a visit for anyone who enjoys the outdoors! My experience was primarily focused on paddling around the lake via kayak. Although miniscule in comparison to lakes such as Apache, or the grandness of paddling in the open ocean; I truly enjoyed this experience.
