This beautiful valley (also called Matsu valley) is located about 35 miles north-east of Anchorage along the Glenn Highway. The area is said to have 24 hour sun and famous for its huge cabbages. What I like most is the natural beauty and tranquility of the sorroundings. The Matanuska glacier is the highlight of the attraction which is 27 miles long and 4 miles wide. It is hard to describe how beautiful the area is. Please see my photos.
I was with a tour group consisting of middle aged passengers travelling in comfort. But I saw many young people hiking and climbing in the area, so if you are young and fit you have that option also.
