We rented scooters and made a trip one afternoon. The musuem was so-so but it had fabulous views and was a good close up look at village life. There are 2 musuems across the street from one another - 2 pesos to see an archeological graveyard dig and 5 pesos to go into the main museum.

The museum was very interesting, from a historical point of view, and the native mock villiage was different from the norm... a little of a suprise.. go and find out!

The Arawakan Indian cemetry was excavated by archeologists about 3 or 4 years ago and helped to identify how the conquests by other countries (eg Spain) affected their lives and culture. The guide explained the meanings of artifacts found in the graves and how the way people were buried changed over time (eg as Christianity was introduced). We found this part of the tour very interesting and a valuable insight into pre-Hispanic Cuba. The replica village shows how the archeologists believe the Indians lived in the area (although the bit of theatre that is laid on for fun in the village made us both cringe!).

The attraction consists of
2 sites. The first is a museum which is built around the actual remains of native Cubans, left exactly as they were found. Seeing this burial site, viewed from above, is fascinating. The second part of the attraction is a replica Indian village showing how native Cubans would have lived. There are dance shows for tourists which are quite entertaining. This is a interesting attraction at which to spend an hour or two.

All it is is a small building with some skeletons in sand and even if you want to take a picture you have to pay one CUC to use your camera there.
