It is definitely Paradise as reflected in the name! This was our second visit and we had our friends with us this time and they loved it too! Everywhere is kept immaculate and the gardens are gorgeous. Fabulous beach with soft golden sand and aqua blue sea as clear as a bell. All the restaurants were fabulous, even the buffet one. So much to choose from and all delicious. I have never eaten so much fresh lobster in my life. The desserts were so yummy too! Played havoc with my waistline but who cares! Holidays are meant for indulging and this hotel is tops for everything. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. Thank you once again for a holiday of a lifetime. Will be coming back soon and trying out the Royal Suites which look amazing too.

What more can I say about the best hotel in all of Cuba?

We were allocated room 1512, right next to the Botanical gardens of the hotel and in easy reach of the main hotel buildings where the restaurants and entertainment was located.

We left our windows open and were woken at dawn to hear the most beautiful dawn chorus we have ever heard.

The hotel arranges trips which were very reasonably priced. We went on one that visited a local primary school and a fishing village. If you intend to go on this trip, try to remember to take along some stuff for the school such as pens, pencils crayons etc as the schools are excellent but are even more poorly resourced than those in the UK.

Another activity arranged by the hotel is a birdwatching walk (the feathered variety) led by an enthusiastic bird expert. This takes place in the extensive hotel grounds. The guide had a i-pod with recordings of the bird songs. When played in certain parts of the complex he 'called down' the birds so we could have a closer look. A Little Owl soon came to his call and settled in a nearby tree where we could photograph the little chap. A large 'Tree Rat' ( a Jutia) was also seen. It is rather like a very large guinea pig about the size of a badger. It is a wild creature which lives in the hotel grounds. They rear their young near the cliffs and come out at dusk to feed on the dhrubs. As you can guess I am very keen on nature!

The food in all of the restaurants is excellent. We tried the Patio a la carte restaurant and had a show table in the Japanese restaurant.

Start the day with a Mimosa in the buffet breakfast (champagne and orange juice) then retire to the pool for a day trying to decide what not to do!!!!!!!!

Swim up bar in pool great to collect a Lime Sludge or a Pina Colada (Or both!!)

Room Tip: If you like wildlife go for block 15 upstairs

The well name "Paradisius" is exactly that. 5 stars, high end and well deserving of its Trip Advisor rating as the number 1 hotel in Cuba. Not a false note, attention to detail, above average food and "On Reservation" restaurants matching anything you will find in world capitals. The cosmopolitan clientele is pleasant to be around, discreet and yet friendly. The average age of guests is 50 +, 95% couples; so you will not be subjected to wild parties or obnoxious boozers! The decors of the common area, the gardens and the general layout of the facilities are exceptional. Very much for lovers! Enjoy. I highly recommend this hotel and its Spa if you are looking for elegance and a restful vacation. Enjoy.

Room Tip: Building 13 is good and close to the main facility.

We were spoiled with the excellent service, spectacular shows, beautiful beaches, very good seafood and amazing coral reefs in a swimming distance. The hospitality of the entire staff was amazingly sincere, efficient and friendly. Shows start at 6:30 pm and continue until 9:30 pm with several different professional performers in Latin music, jazz, opera and dance. The shows were the best that we have ever seen in any other hotel. One will find all the attractions needed in this gem of a location. We have already been in this resort 3 times and we definitely would like to go again and again. I cannot imagine any better resort anywhere else in the Caribbean. Thanks to the hotel management and thanks to all the staff for making our life very enjoyable one during our stay in this wonderful resort.

Room Tip: Royal Service rooms with ocean view are spectacular.

We travelled to the paradisus on the 6.3.13 this is the 2nd time we have been to this hotel, what can I tell you about this hotel, that many returning guests have already stated, wonderful location, beautiful beach, fantastic staff, and the best food ever!! We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary while there, and what a fantastic day we had spent in the spa, also had a cake and champagne at the pool bar at lunch time, and also a cake at the Cuban restuarant in the evening! The rooms are large and very clean, but the best thing about this hotel, is the staff, they make your stay amazing just to name a few, Neysi Norge and Maria, in the pool bar, Jorgie at the beach, George and Leo at the swim up bar. We will be returning next year (God willing)

We've stayed at two other higher end resorts in Cuba and this was by far the best: the best food, the best accommodations, the best overall service and the most beautiful setting. We did stay in the newer resort (called Royal Service) but to those who think this is because we wanted butler service it's really just because we wanted the best type of room we could get.

Little did we know how nice it would be and not only the rooms but lobby bar, the restaurant (Los Helechos) the beautiful 3 tier infinity pools with the statue of "Esmeralda" presiding over the pools. Up on a cliff overlooking the most amazing azure blue waters, it has a beach of it's down down the cliff. (You can always get a ride back up the hill.) It is also above the original resort which is also beautifully laid out with a great beach, neat art works, a huge pool with lots of loungers and designed so that it doesn't feel like a huge resort.

The main resort has several restaurants where we had very nice lunches. It is also where the a la carte restaurants are (we liked the Mediterranean one the best) and where the big buffet restaurant is located. The lobby bar there is large, noisy and lots of cigar smokers so we didn't hang around there too often. A quick ride back up was rarely a problem to get.

Back to the Royal Service Resort - hanging around the pool makes for a quiet retreat-like vacation so one has a choice of quiet, more crowded, snorkeling, or beach life. We were there for 10 days starting March 1 and the evenings were all very cool with a lot of wind so I only wore a sundress one night. The pool was also too cool until the last few days of our trip. Staff all commented that the weather was unusually cool for the time of year (the same was true I heard of Florida too of course).

A couple of things I would like to see changed: the lounge furniture around the Royal Service pool was horribly uncomfortable - they should replace it with the standard loungers they have at the large pool.

Restaurant servers are friendly and attentive, however, at all restaurants they come to take your order without asking if you'd like a drink or would like to pick a wine. We found that strange and have experienced that same thing at Melia Cayo Coco. So we did have to slow them down a bit or our dinner would be over in 45 minutes.

And it is an hour from the airport - our transport to the hotel on the way there was better than our return trip which was dusty and smelly from exhaust of other vehicles.

Awesome hotel. The staff we're cordial, helpful and friendly. Even though the restaurants are supposed to close before midnight, they were kept open for families and couples that arrived after midnight. In our case it was open until 2am. There are 4 gourmet restaurants and a main dining hall that is buffet style. The resort is environmentally friendly, as it was built on an area where they wanted to protect the greenery and wildlife. However, as a result of this, there are numerous birds that visit the dining hall, and the plates of those not paying close attention. The ground transportation is punctual and is air-conditioned.

Ladies, hold to on to your panties (or lock them in the safe)! As unfortunate as it was, on our stay we suspect that the cleaning staff stole my wife's underwear and a perfume that she purchased from duty free on her way into the country. We were told that the hotel would investigate the situation, but we obviously don't expect anything beneficial to result from this. Apart from this incident, the hotel and city itself is a great place, and one bad experience with a single individual didn't take away from this amazing experience.
