The highlight here is the staff, both at reception and generally within the hotel. Housekeeping is fantastic: an original towel arrangement would welcome us back every time!
Our room(s) were also graced with, one, a balcony offering an incredible view of the main square just below, the other, an enormous terrace equipped with table and chairs.
Unfortunately, there were a few minor drawbacks. Firstly, when we were told there was no swimming pool, we were advised of the times for an "included" bus service to Ancon beach. It turned out to be not included (a small payment allows you to use the service throughout the day) and with a different schedule to what we had been informed. The towels for the beach were however lent by the hotel, which was convenient.
Secondly, forget about internet even when they claim it exists. It's an ephemeral concept in Cuba.
Essentially, in both cases the problem would seem to be an over-willingness to help - meaning they sometimes promise more than they can deliver.

    Dear guests:

We appreciate your words of appraisal for our staff in general and particularly for the Reception and Housekeeping departments as it is our main goal to provide the best quality service to our guests. It was kind of you to devote some time not only to let us know you had the best time of your holidays while staying with us.
We would like to share at this web site that our hotel has a project in the near future to make not only more rooms but also a spa, swimming pool and some additional services.
We wonder if the inaccurate information you are referring to was given to you by one of our employees, as you do not mention who was, since all of them know perfectly that the hotel does not have any transport for the beach , and that to get there you have to take the bus line, which leaves near the hotel, or a taxi, both are for pay.
However we thank you very much for the idea, because in the future the hotel could implement a free shuttle service for its guests.
As for Wifi services in our country the Telecommunications Company provides a basic connection that will improve with time as they are currently developing that area. We hope that next time you visit our city will be possible to enjoy these and other services.

    Sincerely yours,

    Quality Manager

This hotel deserves its place as the number one hotel in Trinidad. It is rated by Iberostar as one of its “Grand Collection” – their highest category. It is a 10 minute walk from the main historical centre of the town and directly opposite Parque Cespedes which is the heart of the town for its inhabitants. This park also houses the telecommunications centre and this likely explains why Wi-fi reception is better here than within the hotel itself!

The hotel has just 40 rooms. It is a colonial style building, low rise, with just three floors. Some face the park and have small balconies. Others face the side and rear of the building and these have small patio areas, often enclosed but with some planting to make them more pleasant.

Money can be changed at Reception and the rates were some of the best we found in Cuba. Off the delightful foyer which has seating and a fountain containing terrapins, is the bar, with a separate cigar smoking room. Beyond this is a large, somewhat grand dining room which features a large art deco light fitting at its centre in the form of a pineapple. We found staff throughout the hotel polite, professional and pleasant.
We stayed in room 1017, conveniently close to the small lift! The room was large, furnished with dark colonial style furniture which was in good condition. A filter coffee machine was provided for free use. The room was very clean, the aircon efficient, the bathroom smart and spotless and all that was needed was provided

The buffet breakfast provided the usual variety of foods which was more than adequate. The evening meal was either a la carte or a buffet and whilst the overall eating experience was the most positive we had in Cuba, the food whilst aspiring to top class standards, fell somewhat short. The dining room is very swish, the staff are trained to a high standard, the experience is first class and it is a shame that the food lets it down somewhat.

Overall I would rate the hotel as being a good four star, and it was certainly the best at which we stayed during our time in Cuba

Room Tip: Rooms facing the park are likelier to be noisier

The Grand Hotel is a real treat – a colonial style building modernized to keep with the style but include 5-star luxury, For Cuba, this hotel is expensive but you really get what you pay for – comfortable large room, luxurious bathroom, a wonderful breakfast (look out for the pineapple lampshade), and a good location at the edge of the old town. We had a room on the front overlooking the square but found the double glazing excellent and had a lovely peaceful night’s sleep.

Delightful hotel, very convenient for visiting Trinidad and its environs. We had a delightful room with a super terrace. The service in the rather splendid restaurant was very good and the staff were delightful. The musicians who entertained in the evening were excellent.

After the madness of Havana and a long coach transfer it was like walking into an oasis of calm. We were greeted with cold towels and fruit juice - heaven. Room was spotless, bed comfortable and we had a lovely little patio. Food was great and the staff friendly and efficient. The best hotel we stayed in whilst on holiday in Cuba.
