We had no hotel booked and were lucky to find three rooms in this hotel. It had only recently been redone and thus is very nice. It has a nice inner courtyard and the rooms are spacious and nicely fournished. The staff is quite friendly and it is located right in the city centre.
The only negative point is breakfast as there is no buffet and you have to order every single item you want (juice, coffee, bread, jam etc). Moreover, it took half an hour before we had everything we had ordered which of course is quite annoying....so if you stay there make sure you plan plenty of time for breakfast and take a newspaper :)

Of all the places we sta he'd in Cuba this was probably the most enjoyable. Recently remodeled (you can forget those older re views) this small hotel is up to date and the staff goes all out to please. Sure, the food can be improved but given the reality of Cuba it's more then adequate. Centrally located and an easy trip to the local sites.

We stayed there 3 days and had a great time despite the city had been deluged by rain for the previous 4 days. An easy walk to center of city.
The best thing was the friendliness of the staff who really enjoyed their jobs. The maids even created towel dummies that showed who we were and what we liked to do.

Room Tip: Any room is fine.

The staff was warm, welcoming. The hotel has very lovely interiors and some extremely inviting outdoor areas for relaxing with other guests. The location was central, close to parks and the Plaza Major. Good food, good service, romantic music abounds; and absolutely wonderful entertainment at your arrival, at the open air bar as night falls. The maids are friendly and surprisingly creative with towels!! Loved it!

Room Tip: Large windows can be opened for added ventilation at night.

You must try this Hotel if staying in Trinidad, Cuba! It is totally remodeled and in a great location in the center of town. The rooms are large and beautifully decorated. But what makes this hotel special is the staff. They are All fabulous! Every day the maids leave you different works of art made from towels. The wait staff and bartenders make you feel at home and very special. Thank you all- staff of LaRonda for a very special experience in Trinidad!

Room Tip: 2 floors, no elevator

We were a group of 4 travelling around Cuba in April 2012. We found this hotel by accident and it was one of the best that we stayed in. The hotel is newly renovated with brand new plumbing (a total bonus!!), power showers, super comfortable beds, great AC and cable TV. The rooms are set over an open courtyard over 2 floors. There is a stunning rooftop terrace, and the bar manager there, Juventus, is a total delight. We ate there each night of our stay and the staff could not have done more to make us feel welcome. The menu is extensive and the food is excellent. Juventus makes THE BEST mojitos in Cuba - high praise indeed given the extensive research we conducted!! I would highly recommend this hotel.

This is a newly renovated hotel, reopened early in 2012. The lobby and central courtyard are welcoming and comfortable. Rooms are on 2 floors around the courtyard and each bears the name of a Cuban poem. Inside your room you will find the entire poem nicely framed. This was a nice touch. Beds are comfortable and the room is immaculate. As others have noted, the maids do an amazing job of creative towel arrangements and you will be delighted by these on a daily basis. There is a nice bar on the roof where you can have the world's best mojito, according to Jubentino the bartender. The restaurant offers a nice breakfast and dinner but the service was sometimes a little off balance. From this location you can easily walk the best of Trinidad.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The small La Ronda Hotel opens onto Parque Cespedes and offers a value-priced budget alternative to the deluxe Iberostar a stone's throw away, while having the advantage of a heart-of-affairs location compared to the similarly priced Hotel Horizontes Las Cuevas up the hill. The concept is fairly simple: take a 19th-century townhouse, fix up the plumbing and install modern bathrooms, give the rest of the building a sprucing and open up to foreign tourists. Hotel Cubanacan (formerly Islazul) La Ronda is located in the centre of Trinidad which has been declared a world heritage site by the UNESCO. Nearby is the Romantic Museum, the Plaza Mayor (Main Square), the Santa Ana Church the Cantero Palace and much more. The 17 air-conditioned bedrooms are on two levels opening to an atrium patio with palms and potted plants. Furnishings are somewhat meager, and the mattresses and pillows are second rate. Nonetheless, the rooms are the equal of most private room rentals (the most popular options in Trinidad) in town. The high ceilings and colonial tile floors help keep rooms cool, and those facing south have tall French doors opening to balconies overlooking the lively plaza. Satellite TVs, telephones, small refrigerators, and in-room safes are standard. The small restaurant and bar here are charming, albeit simple. Continental and criolla meals are served. For a splurge, the ritzy restaurants and bars of the Iberostar Gran Hotel Trinidad are literally a 50-pace stroll away. La Ronda hotel has been recently renovated. ... more   less
