“Beautiful beach, good snorkelling”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 16, 2013

We visited this beach on our previous visit and stayed a the Hotel Ancon on our first trip to Cuba. The snorkelling at the off-shore reef was great, although the reef seemed to be broken down a lot on our last trip.

“Peace on white sands”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2013

The Playa Ancon is a gem of a beach. After you cross the picturesque village and the bird filled swamps, the beach pops out like a beautiful surprise. Either you can relax near the resorts or just walk further down where there will be hardly anybody around. Only problem is that seemed to be quite a bit of sea weed strewn on the beach, but the water is warm and crystal clear.

“A taste of paradise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2013

The beach with gritty white sand sweeps the bay and makes for a lovely long walk, ideally in the shallows. Very romantic at early morning or just as the sunsets.
The beach is clean, the waters warm and it was not very busy when we were there (early November). Sea clear and not as cold as the Atlantic!

“Water is glorious”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2013

The sand on the beach is very hard and compacted so not very comfortable to lie on but the ocean is glorious and water warm and great for swimming. Some old resorts look run down and lacking in maintenance and their aren't many facilities on the beach for visitors. Still worth a visit for a day as Trinidad has more going for it.

“Nice little museum, but the same architectural features can be seen in some well preserved Casas Particular”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2013

There are some very interesting exhibits - the most outstanding is a de-luxe shower unit from the 18th century. Some other exhibits are a bit inferior - you can see better examples in the Casas Particular that you can rent rooms in. We also had to suffer the company of a very irritating woman guide who attach herself to us: she could not answer any questions in English or Spanish and was talking nonsense most of the time, but we could not get rid of her. We had to tip her at the end of the visit as she spend time talking to us, but the visit would have been more enjoyable without a guide as most exhibits are self-explanatory.
