This is one of the coolest unique clubs you'll ever go to for sure. Starts late around 11:00 but can grab a drink outside as you wait. Mostly reggatone when we were there but changes nightly and often. Very well done place and bathrooms are even nice. It's all about the atmosphere. A little weird cobble stone street with a steep hill at the end to get too, ladies beware of your fancy shoes on this hike. Very fun though!

I've certainly never been to a disco in a cave anywhere in the world, so this was a first for me. It's quite a spectacular place with a fascinating history of vagabond robbers and more. The walk to it from Plaza Major is dodgy, dark and rocky and you'd never venture there unless you knew that's where the cave is! Take a flashlight with you for sure. Anywhere else in the world it would probably be a protected heritage or natural site, but in Cuba it's a tiled, electrified, underground den of fun. The caves are still alive, which means there's water everywhere, which turns into a slippery, dirty mess on the smooth tiles and stairs within minutes of everyone arriving. The music was weird, and mostly in the form of videos beamed onto a massive screen at what must certainly be illegal decibels. People smoke and drink and make merry all on the dance floor, so it's not nice to stay for a long time at all, but an hour or 90 minutes is fine to enjoy the unusual experience. Because unusual it certainly is! There's also a bit of a dress code, although it's not explicit what it is, but men in shorts are not allowed entry.

Finding this place is not easy unless you're with a local or a guide - meenamara's review below has some great directions. We got here early and had to wait outside for quite a while for the club to open (it opens on Cuban time!).

You are frisked, then pay $5 CUC entry (others seem to say it's $2 so it might have gone down in price), get a ticket and head on down the steps into the cave. At the bottom, you turn left into the main dance floor and bar area, or turn right to the toilets. It's actually quite big when you get inside and you get a free drink on entry.

The dance floor gets pretty slippery and it does get hot in there after a while, but it's worth it for the experience. The music was a mix of local Cuban and some international.

If you can find it, it's definitely worth it for the experience.

When I heard about a club in a cave, I was intrigued. When you actually get there, wow, it's such a cool place, like nothing I've ever seen!
Music is fantastic, a wide range from Cuban rythms to rock, and you see tourists and locals alike. So much fun!
Entrance is 2CUC with a drink, form 11 pm to 3 am.
The space huge, like an actual club with a dance floor, bar, clean toilets...
Wear comfy shoes and clothes, it's very hot in there!
A must if you go to Trinidad!

As you are facing the main church in the square, walk up the road on the immediate left as you look at the church (Calle Simon Bolivar). Keep walking!! You’ll pass lots of street sellers with mini cocktail bars set up on the street so you’ll know you’re on the right road. When you get to the end of the road (no more street lights) you might think you’ve missed it. You haven’t. Go up the dirt road on your right and the cave will be at the top! It’s such a cool place. A unique experience. You won’t hear the music until you go down into it. So surreal to be dancing in a proper cave with a dance floor and a bar. Entry is 2CUC but you get a free drink with that. Well worth the walk up there! And there are even real toilets!

This club is simply amazing!!! and you know why you cannot find it somewhere else?? Just because in other countries it would not fulfill the safety requirements. But don't get panic! It is safe. Disco Ayala is a club is inside a cave. The environment is amazing and unique. Latin music like crazy with the rock walls inside the cave generating a kind of a respect feeling to nature. This helps as well in the acoustics since it is like being in a sound proof studio. There is no issue with claustrophobic people though because once you enter the cave the place inside is huge. Strongly recommended!!

The nightclub is located in a HUGE cave, and if the place was not amazing enough on itself the great music does the rest: perfect balance between latin music combined with electro.

It is exactly as it is described - a disco in a cave. You queue to get in and your entrance fee includes a drink of your choice inside. It is something you would only do once as it is an attraction but it was fun to go in a group.
