Disco Ayala is the most unusual club i've ever been to, no doubt about it. Set inside a series of caverns 1/2km north of Trinidad's city centre you spend a lot of your visit simply gawping at the strangeness of it all.
A far cry from the sweaty, gyrational dance floors of the UK, you'll find the locals will rhythmically salsa the night away whilst listening to poor Spanish pop music and drinking a sensible amount of alcohol. I didn't know what to make of it!
As the music is barely bareable we only stayed an hour and a half, but it was well worth the visit, and i thoroughly enjoyed supping my Buccanero in such an odd surrounding.
Quirks of the club include open topped toilets, the most ridiculously high DJ booth and the fact it is in a cave (obviously). We went on a Monday night and entry was $3cuc rather than the $10cuc that Lonely Planet lists.
