The first thing to remember when staying at this property is that it is, officially, classed as a campsite. Whilst the chalet-style rooms broadly resemble what you might find in a three-star hotel, there may be imperfections in plumbing, service etc. that would be quite normal at a campsite but disappointing at a three-star hotel.
Service and food at the on-site restaurant was more than adequate - which is good, as there are few other options locally. Staff were helpful on arrival and checked us in promptly. The room smelled a bit funny (disinfectant?) but was perfectly comfortable.
A word of warning: this place really is in the middle of nowhere and, despite having a sign at reception saying that they can change money, this is not always possible in practice. Make sure you have enough Cuban money to pay for anything you need during your stay, otherwise you may face a long drive (40km) to Trinidad or Cienfuegos!
The site has a lot of slopes and steps and is, as far as I can remember, entirely unsuitable for wheelchair users.

Our tour had been planned for over a year and we had confirmed reservations at Brisas del Mar in Trinidad some distance away. Then the US relaxed travel requirements for Cuba and a large tour company apparently persuaded Cuba to cancel all existing reservations for a guarantee to use Brisas del Mar exclusively. We learned the day before our arrival that Villa Guajimico had been chosen as our new hotel for two nights. The change required a much longer drive for us to the sights in Trinidad which we planned to visit since this hotel is closer to Cienfuegos. We were assigned individual cottages with a front porch and a bedroom and attached bath. Our air conditioning worked adequately and we had sufficient hot water for showers. There was a pool area around which we sat to talk and smoke our cigars. Outside lighting was poor with a number of stairs, steps, and other uneven areas on the way to and from the restaurant. Be sure to take a flashlight. The restaurant served decent food although nothing was special. Since this was a two night stay we asked about having laundry done and we were assured it could be done in one day. After turning in the laundry around 8AM we discovered at dinner that night that none of it was ready. The next morning it was delivered to our doors before breakfast but several of our group found we were missing items. Some were later found before we had checked out but other items were not recovered.
