“Amazing Casa”
Reviewed May 14, 2012

We stayed here in March for 4 nights with Mariela & Lorenzo and had a fantastic time. Mariela collected us from the bus and while we waiting for our room Lorenzo brought us some of his gorgeous fresh guava juice. I also recommend his freshly juiced pineapples! The room was simple but spotlessly clean as was the whole house. We had the room upstairs on the right. They have a lovely rooftop terrace where you can watch the sunset over a mojito- in fact Mariela wont let you leave until you do this! We ended up eating in our casa for all 4 nights as Lorenzo is a brilliant cook. I can recommend everything. We had fish, prawns, lobster all delicious. The location of the casa is great just off the main square in the historical centre of Trinidad. The casa de musica is around the corner so not far to walk for some great music and drinks at night. Our hosts were friendly thoughtful and a little bit crazy! Mariela ended up being like our home away from home mother. We had a fantastic time here. If Im ever back in Trinidad I will be definitely staying here

I just returned from a 7 day stay in Cuba, and for 6 nights me and my boyfriend stayed at El Rintintin. Trying to decide on a casa was daunting, as there are so many in Trinidad. I was overwhelmingly charmed by El Rintintin. Their rooftop terrace is beautiful and romantic, and their house is situated in a fabulous area. The casa far exceeded my expectations. Mariela and Lorenzo offered the perfect balance of privacy and care. The food was fabulous, and they were so kind and genuine. It was safe and charming.

The warm welcome of Mariela when we arrived with the bus, was the start of a wonderful stay. Although we had to stay our first night in Mariela & Lorenzo's other house because some other guests had choosen to stay one night longer in Rintintin, it was no problem. We arrived Rintintin the next day, and got the two rooms upstairs - and had the floor to ourselves:-)
Nice rooms, good beds (maybe a bit hard mattresses, depends what you like), a good air conditioning who made the rooms cool if you wanted, bathroom with hot water all the time and everything was perfectly clean. The rooms are impeccably cleaned and tidyed every day.
The terrace is wonderful, sunny with a great view on the town as Rintintin is situated on a small hill slightly overlooking the town - and the sunset from up there is beautiful!!
Breakfast consisted of eggs, juice, tea, coffee, cheese, ham and fruits - and if you ask you can get "panchetta suave" - fresh rolls :-)
Dinner was served on the terrasse and we loved Lorenzos cooking. More tasty and better than any other meals we had in Cuba!!
Mariela arranged all transportation for us to go to the lovely beach of Ancona ( about 10 kms).
Mariela & Lorenzo was really helpful and interested in our well beeing, for example they can get you manicure/pedicure or massasje in the house - and also do youre laundry if you need.
The hostel is well situated in the old charming part of the town. The streets are still made of the original pebbles, and a little difficult to walk if you are wearing sandals. You can always walk on the sidewalk or wear sneakers.
We recommend the outdoor bars with great music on the wide stairs beside the church at Plaza Major, we had fantastic evenings there :-D
We recommend this Casa Particular for its hosts, charm, warmth, comfort and food!!

We stayed at the house of Lorenzo & Mariella in Trinidad/Cuba for 2 nights/days. Very nice people, very nice house, clean, perfect food, fantastic few over Trinidad from the terrace. Room s are simply and nice. I can recommend this highly. 25 a night - without jinetero. normally you are not allowed to go the the place with the car, but if you have a reservation or a card from the house, they will let you in. Enjoy! Bernhard & Doris from Austria, Feb 2012

We spent 4 days at hostal rintintin at the beginning of 2012. We were a strange party of 7: two small childs, two adults and three grandparents. Everybody was happy. Perfect location; very good food; extraordinary attention from the owners, Lorenzo and Mariela. On top of that, they are (she is) very fast with emails so that booking is swift and safe (which is not something to be taken for granted in Cuba!). The sunrise from the terrace is breathtaking and, despite some noise at nights for music played in the neighborhood, we really enjoyed our stay there. As we particularly enjoyed our time with Mariela, who is very nice, funny and quite "chismooosa!". Do you want to discover what it means? Go there! you will not regret your choice.

What is nice about this place is privacy. A lot of casa particular don`t offer private areas where you can just relax and this one offers a private table upstairs as well as a roof top patio where you can sit and enjoy the mountain and city view. Many restaurants and and sightseeing nearby and close to csa the la musica where you can enjoy the best traditional music in town.

What immediatly charmed us is the liveliness of the streets surroundings the hostel situated in the old city, the yellow painted house with a blue door and the warm welcome of Mariela
The room we choose was not the largest but the quietest as it was overlooking a courtyard rather than the street..
Good bed and mattresses, and a good air conditionning unit that was well set so it did not hit you directly while cooling the room very well.
Bathroom has hot water all the time and everything was perfectly clean. The rooms are impeccably cleaned every day.
The terrace accessed through a ladder is just wonderful. Sunny with a great view on the town as El Rintintin is situated on a small hill slightly overlooking the town. Mariela arranged all transportation for us to go to the lovely beach of Ancona ( about 10 kms) and for other excursions to the water falls and the Sugar plantation.
Breakfast was served on the terrasse by the smiling blond and blue eyes Jarida and consisted of eggs, juice, tea.coffee, cheese, ham and fruits. Healthy and fresh,
We had dinner a few times at the hostel, and the food was good as it can be in Cuba where it seems they rarely use spices in the cooking. Next time I'll bring with me a variety of spices to enhance Mariela''s cooking.
Mariela was really pampering us with team coffe, fruits anytime in the day. Her husband and her son also helped in getting us taxis ( old american cars) for our excursions.
The hostel is well situated in the old charming part of the town. The streets are still made of the original pebbles thus a little difficult to walk if you are wearing sandals. You can always walk on the sidewalk.
Overall an enjoyable experience and we hope to come back again.
I recommend this hostel for its charn, warmth and authenticity as well as comfort.

Room Tip: We preferred the smaller room not on the street because it is totally quiet. While the mattresses...
