This Casa is two minutes walk from the beach in La Bocha. This is a beach used by locals and is therefore not crowded. We were disappointed with the first room we were offered as it was small and dark although it had air conditioning. Luckily for us booked guests did not turn up and we were offered the room upstairs. It is huge with another smaller room through an alcove with two double beds. There is a large elevated bath as well as a shower and toilet en suite. The room opens onto a large roof garden where we enjoyed our pre dinner drinks as the sun set.
Apart from the roof garden, we really enjoyed the food. We had three evening meals and there were huge delicious portions of traditional Cuban dishes. Neena was willing to cook things I mentioned and we went market shopping together.
Ernesto is a keen gardener and makes a mean mojito (2.50CUC), with mint freshly picked from the garden. I wish our Spanish had been better as they are an older couple and would have been able to give us detailed historical information from a personal perspective. They are really warm and made us a delicious packed breakfast as we were leaving very early.
Beware the drinks in the fridge are expensive - buy your own from the little shop on the sea front.More
