“A Square in Trinidad”
Reviewed December 24, 2012

We enjoyed all our time in Trinidad, but Plaza Mayor was not the highlight that the tour books tout it as. At least not to us. Don't get me wrong, it was beautiful and well worth a look see, but it won't take you long. It is well kept and restored, but we found other buildings and sights which held just as much of our interest which weren't even mentioned. By all means check it out, maybe on your way to the Casa de la Musica!!

“Pretty and unspoiled”
Reviewed December 16, 2012

As above. Cathedral, general view, lovely museums. Very picturesque – and listen to music on the steps above, with people dancing on the terrace.

“Exceptionally pretty.”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

A fairy-tale of a square, almost TOO pretty! Plenty of benches, though not much shade, and during the day at least it was more popular with tourists than with locals. At night it was more of a local hang-out, though. Surrounded by lovely buildings and the picture-postcard towers.

“A great place to rest your bones”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

Plaza Mayor is the oldest plaza in Trinidad. There's a plaza downtown, but it's the new plaza, the one near the bank.

“Under perpetual renovation”
Reviewed November 18, 2012

We liked everything...!!! From the many small to medium restaurants, to the cobble stone streets. The oldest church in Cuba, was also interresting, but we could not get in, because it's closed during the week; it opens for mass on Sunday.
