“Hostal El Tayaba, centrally located in Trinidad”

This casa gives a good impression of how Cubans lived in former days.
The house is beautifully furnished. You can have breakfast and diner on the roof terrace.
Iris is a very nice hostess.
She recommended us a nice casa in Santiago de Cuba: San Carlos Hostal.

Trinidad is also a good place to visit the Toppes Collantes.

Room Tip: Don't be fooled by Jineteros at Trinidad!

At $30 a night, this was the most expensive and the most beautiful room we stayed in in Cuba. The deco may be slightly fragile and not entirely antique but is beautiful and quirky. The hostess doesn't speak English but makes up in enthusiasm and cheerful attitude. The casa is perfectly located in the historic centre of Trinidad next to the Cathedral and has a small but lovely rooftop terrace. There is a parking lot around the corner for 3cuc a day. The only down-side to the room was the shower water which never got really hot.

Breakfast for 5cuc was the most expensive we had experienced in Cuba but was slightly below average: the usual coffee, fruit, fresh juice, bread & butter, but the omelette was very small. Ham and cheese (which I understand are the reason behind the price) didn't look enticing at all and we never touched them.

You can have dinner at the too for the standard 8-10cuc. We didn't try it but saw other guests eating and the food was looking good.

Room Tip: room 1 is beautiful and has a window but be wary that Cuban towns are noisy at night so not recommen...

This is a beautiful, colonial house in Trinidad. The front room is amazing with a beautiful floor and wall frescos which were being restored while we were there. My husband, 2 of our friends and I spent 3 nights here. Our rooms were very spacious and clean and you entered them straight from a lovely patio. The bathroom and room were cleaned every day.
The food was excellent, always fresh and there was loads and the terrace where it was served was nice as well.
The location is central, a short walk from all the attractions in Trinidad.
We arrived on the day of Iris's (one of the hostesses) birthday and we were treated to cake, ice cream and rum, which really made us feel welcome and part of the family. All of the family is very friendly and helpful. Iris is such a bubbly character, she is great fun to be with!
I definitely recommend this casa for a stay in Trinidad!

El Tayaba is the most beautiful casa in Trinidad. The spacious room is furnished in colonial style with wonderful carved bed, wardrobe and mirrors. This was the most stylish place we happened to stay in Cuba. The owners are warm, friendly and helpful, always smiling. Tasty meals are served on the sunny terrace overlooking the old city of Trinidad. We spent there one week and it was not enough. We recommend Tayaba because this is the essence of fantastic Cuba.

Older house, cool front rooms w/ porcelain ornaments and family photos, courtyard behind w/ rooms off it, second storey terrace for delicious meals. Rooftop views over variegated tiled roofs are the highlight of Trinidad. Beautiful old buildings and cobblestone streets. Managed by Iris and cousin Yoel – owner. Shared fridge. Good AC. Iris met me at Viazul w/ luggage porter - good contact! Yoel gives lectures in English to Road Scholars on the history and economy of the region.

A great place to stay in Trinidad. Very central, so walking distance to all museums and live music spots. If you are driving here, beware of the extremely bad roads inside the old time and take care of your tyres. The hostal El Tayaba is a nice haven after a day of sightseeing or an afternoon at Ancon beach. You enter directly into the living room, which is typical Cuban with its antiques and pictures. Our room was at the patio, clean and quiet. You can have breakfast and dinner upstairs on the terrace and enjoy the view over Trinidad. Iris, your hostess, is the best. She can give you great tips and doesn't mind at all, accompanying you during some dancing and drinking.
