“A good place to stay near Trinidad”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

The rooms are amazing, very comfortable (with king size bed!), the best we found in Cuba. Hosts are very kind and friendly, and speak good English.

We enjoyed our stay, but have a car is mandatory. You need the car to reach Playa Ancon (best beach in the area) and to reach Trinidad.

Room Tip: There are two room separate from where the family lives.

What an amazing place! This charming bed and breakfast has to be the best in Trinidad! The very private room (separate from where the family lives) was amazing, great water pressure and hot water in the private bathroom, wonderful food, fantastic view of the ocean and an amazing family and staff who pay attention to every detail! I have stayed at several hotels in and around Trinidad and now I will only stay here! it cost less than half of what I payed at my last hotel and provided so much more! It is hands down the best in the area!

Room Tip: All rooms have great views.

My wife and I stayed here in 2011 and it was exactly what we were looking for - a quiet and peaceful casa, an external terrace overlooking the sea, clean and comfortable rooms and extremely friendly hosts who speak perfect english, can arrange most things for you and also offer really good value and tasty meals. A perfect place to base yourself in for exploring Trinidad and La Boca, away from the hustle and bustle of Trinidad but only a short cab ride away. We spent many an evening with a cold beer watching the sun go down over the sea!

We were so lucky to have found this beach house. Very nice family, great food, clean, and a back patio with a pretty great view of the ocean. You know your life is good when you find yourself having a two-hour breakfast, drinking Cuban coffee and looking at the sea! The owners set us up with a great diver (Juan) who we would recommend to dive with.

We had a very relaxing stay at Casa El Capitan. The beds were comfy, rooms clean and water pressure in the shower good. It is the perfect place to sit on the veranda and chill. The sun set from the balcony was beautiful. The hosts were lovely and friendly and every meal was great and there was always more food than we could eat! It was great having a fridge in the room to as we just walked into La Bocca to stock up on beer and water so whenever we wanted a drink we knew we could get one.
We got a taxi into Trinidad for dinner a few nights and ate at the casa a few nights. During the day we chilled at the casa, got a taxi to the beach (Playa Ancon) or into Trinidad to have a walk around. One day we did a trip hiking in the mountains which a friend of our hosts organised for Overall great place to stay!

Room Tip: As for the room facing the sea!

"El Capitan" was my very personal favourite casa. We planned to stay one night only, but at least we spent almost a week at "El Capitan".

It was the perfect hide-away and starting point for serveral tours, such as trinidad, topes etc. (Although La Boca is only some minutes away from Trinidad it's a very relaxed and clean village with lots of green.)

If you choose "El Capitan", look forward to luxory rooms with sea view, direct access to the sea, and, if you like, snorkelling and diving tours will be organised for you - right there, only a view steps down the terrace!

The lovely lady running "El Capitan" ist a great cook, by the way - we suggest "cervo con arroz en patata" - grilled, smooth pig with rice and really tasty chips.

If you are thirsty, one of the hosts will pick some green coconut for you, right from one of the palmtrees between your room and the sea. Don't miss that experience!!

"El Capitan" is in extraordinary top condition (a very new house, great service, high class furniture...), but you will pay the average price - just as in any other casa particular.

Once I found that secret treasure I will certainly return - thanks so much to the lovely family running "El Capitan", it was a perfect experience!

Casa El Capitan is the perfect place to relax! La Boca is 4 km from Trinidad and worth the travel when you prefer a layed back stay nearby the turistic city Trinidad. The people in La Boca are very nice and relaxed. When we arrived in La Boca we found this casa. We rented a car, but when you're traveling by bus it's definitely worth it to take a taxi to La Boca. The location at the end of the village and the house itself is perfect. The host Yilenis, Maikel and there two kids are very friendly. Yilenis speaks very well english and is a good cook. Breakfast and diner are good. There are two rooms, one with seaview. Both rooms are clean, with airco, fan and refrigerator filled with beer and water. The bathroom is perfect, especially the shower! It's so beautifull to enjoy the sunset when you have diner on the veranda or drink a mojito in one of the rocking chairs. It's also a nice place to explore the surroundings of La Boca, such as Playa Ancon it's 4 km from La Boca, Trinidad, Manaca Iznaga and the mountains. There are also a lot of hiking possibilties and waterfalls with natural swimmingpools. Trinidad has good internetacces at the Etecsa office.

We had a great time here and stayed for five nigths, but wanted to stay even longer! When we go back to Cuba, we will visit this place again for sure!
