My previous experiences of Te Whau were amazing views, great wine (The Point - I buy a case every year), and a very good restaurant. Our experience a few weeks ago, with a table of 10 friends on a very busy Friday night, is that the restaurant has lifted it standard so that everything is now spot on. Some of our party can be a little fussy with food, and more so with higher priced restaurants, but everyone raved about the meal. It is great that Tony, the owner still wanders around, serving in the restaurant or in the tasting room. We had a great night, thanks very much

We visited this beautiful location with an aim to do wine tasting. We decided that we would have other drinks and coffee first, and we were seated in the restaurant. The staff who served us were very nice. We were put off however by the person that we expect was the chef, as he kept staring at us rather intensely and constantly, and we all noticed it. He appeared to talk to one of his colleagues who then came out and stared at our group. It made us feel uncomfortable enough that we left without wine tasting which was a shame. Again, the female staff that served us were wonderful, the view was spectacular, but our review score is based on how another staff member made us feel.

i travelled most of the world and this was a standout for food and wine.

The food superb, not only our opinion, others coming up to the desk to pay said the same repeatedly. Open kitchen, fabulous views.

They are wine makers of the true style, corks, minimalist intervention in the wine process and you can taste it.

As I say just superb. Sitting there was a small reminder of what life is really about, how lucky we are and how the richness of life is not always juggling around in our pocket.

Well done the owner, you have worked hard, it shows and is wonderful to enjoy. Hope lots of those who appreciate find you.

Te Whau has a great food and wine menu.

If you want to sit outside in summer make sure that you ask when you make your appointment.

The tables inside are rather pedestrian.

There are only a few outdoor seats so you may have to go outside to view the sunset.

It is a little off the beaten track and you can often have to wait for a taxi to come and pick you up.
