Follow the road east out of Onetangi, onto the red clay track and over the hilltops until you find a vineyard that leads out onto a sandy beach with views over the Hauraki Gulf. It doesn't get much better. But yes, it does, with wines that are 5 star, and service to match. It's well worth the short drive into the back country. It's a destination of itself

This is a bit of a trek to get to but our desire to see the other side of Waiheke Island and try an oaky Chardonnay (as promised at another winery) at the end was too inviting. The space the winery has created is like noone where else I have ever been (and I have been to ALOT of wine regions in the world). Dirt road aside, the views are spectacular and you don't expect to find yourself in this quiet little oasis right on the beach when you get there. There were people having picnics, playing grass cricket, on the beach while instead what appears to be be a well thought out old style property, people tried their wines. The Chardonnay was excellent.

Literally at the end of the road at the eastern end of the island and on the waters edge. Well worth the trip. Great winery, with amazing views. Had a few glasses of the Pinot Gris and a great platter. Very busy as it was Easter Sunday but the staff made it seem so effortless. Great knowledge of their wines, and numerous platters going out from the kitchen. Laid back crowd, nice music playing in the background, plenty of room to spread out, picnic blankets scattered around and children playing cricket on the lawn. Superb! (And loos very clean). Yes, it's a winery, yes it excels at simple platters (no choice - either the large for for $35 or choose combinations of for smaller platters), but many a person around us bemoaned the 'lack' of coffee. Would have finished off the afternoon sooooo nicely. Nearest coffee was 20km away. But then again, the view on the way back was just as glorious and gave the wine time to percolate away inside. Highly recommended.

We were going to Stony Batter but realised it was a long walk with kids, so made a detour to Man 'O War....what a fantastic decision! The location right on the beach is breathtaking and the Sav Blanc is amazing. We ordered a platter to share which complimented the wine perfectly.......also there was activities for the kids, like cricket and swing ball. The is a place where you can relax and enjoy the best of what waiheke has to offer......views, wine and sun.

This is a very low key and charming winery on the beach at Man o War bay, Waiheke Island. It truely is worth the drive, a portion of which is on a dusty gravel road but this setting is so spectacular you will forget that in a heart beat. Take your bathing suit...the water is right there and after your swim partake in a great tasting platter and some stunning wines. We loved the Pinot Gris. You could very easily while away your afternoons here sitting on the veranda or under the shade of the trees. It is very family friendly. This would be an excellent stop after walking the Stony Batter Walkway. It really is a must do ! Open all year from 11am to 6pm summer and 11am to 4pm winter. This is not flash like many of the other wineries so dont be surprised to find the local staff wearing jandels and shorts......Things are very casual here.
