“Relaxing honeymoon”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2012

We stayed here for our honeymoon in late February and we found it so relaxing, comfortable and felt very welcome. The retreat is located in a private part of Waiheke Island, on arrival you are greeted with a delightful platter and wine. Mike and Kristy were very accomodating and made our stay very enjoyable with advice on what to do and where to visit. Relaxing in the spa under the stars was wonderful.

A fantastic place to stay in Waiheke, made by excellent hosts. Mike is a great host and organised everything for us from travel (mostly chauffeured around by Mike in a silver merc) to restaurant bookings and vineyards. First class accommodation, a superb cooked breakfast, and a location which is just far enough from the village to make you think you are the only people on the island. The Syrah from their own vineyard is as good (if not better) than the others we tried on the island (and we tried a lot!) - I would not hesitate to recommend the estate to anyone.

We stayed 3 nights at Owhanake for our recent honeymoon and have to say that it was wonderful. The apartment was comfortable, well decorated and had everything we needed - including complimentary chocolates, wine from thier vinyard, continental breakfast and a lovely welcome platter. Mike and Kristy were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. they were able to give lots of advice on things to do, restaurants to go to and arranged an amazing wine tour for us through a company that they know well and therefore they gave us a great service. The setting at Owhanake was beautiful with our deck looking out over the bay. It was so quiet and peaceful there which really helped us relax and enjoy our time. Mike and Kristy's house is right next door but you felt that you had privacy. We would definately recommend Owhanake if you are looking for a bit of peaceful luxury with lots of personal touches and only a 10- 15 minute walk from Oneroa.

Room Tip: We stayed in the one with the private spa - this one is seperate from the main house and was much mo...

We stayed at Owanhake for 2 nights at start of a touring holiday. We found everything excellent here. Mike welcomed us at the ferry and took us to a most idyllic spot on the island! The accommodation was first class. Mike recommended the restaurants and transported us to them. Both were excellent- Mud Brick and the Thai restaurant in the village.
Thank you for a fabulous 2 days and if war are ever back in NZ we will be back at Owhanake.

This was a romantic getaway for our anniversary. Long stem red roses and hand made chocolates together with a card were waiting for us. We were collected from the ferry and taken to the town, as we wanted to explore, collected when finished and again taken to dinner and collected afterwards.
We had a duvet selection fluffy bath towels own private spa on our deck and the run of the property down to the cove. A range of teas and coffee along with breakfast supplies were provided but we spoilt ourselves and were pleased we indulged in the cooked breakfast that was served on our private deck over looking the ocean.
Fabulous hosts every need catered for would highly recommend and will be staying there again.

Christy was our host and went out of her way to be helpful. She showed us around the interesting projects on the Estate, and started our Waiheke Island wine education. She engaged us in interesting conversations as and when we expressed interest in the Estate, the Island, wine and food, Estate projects, walks, and art on Waiheke. The room was lovely, with an excellent bed and a private deck with a view of Owhanake Bay.
Our family had bought us a package gift because each of us had a significant birthday this year. It included a wine tour - paced well, with good wines and interesting hosts on diverse vineyards - and a very special meal at the Mud Brick Restaurant. All in all, it was a very memorable few days.

I was a bit wary of choosing a B and B for our 5th wedding anniversary weekend trip, as I had heard that some hosts can be a bit "in your face" - but Owhanake Bay Estate was utterly perfect.

Mike picked us up from the ferry and showed us around the grounds, including the incredible vege garden and the vineyard, and then left us to it until we were ready for a lift to Thymes Tables where we had booked for dinner.

Our room was immaculately clean, spacious and private, with views to die for. Christy's home baking was an extra treat. The spa pool just outside our door was a bonus, perfect for my husband to relax in after a long jog. Breakfast on our private deck overlooking the bay was absolute luxury.

We had a brilliant weekend and will definitely be back next time we can swing a weekend off. We highly recommend Owhanake Bay Estate as the best B and B we have stayed at on the Island, and Mike and Christy as the perfect hosts.
